He's being played out of position.

And for arguments sake, i'd say Henderson hasn't performed either other than Wigan

I don't get that.

He's done precisely what he's told and he's done very well in my opinion. We need that. We need more like him.

Interesting to see Downing get a start... fingers crossed we don't see a change after 15 mins with Henderson at right back or something.

Feels more important this game than it probably should. There are times in a season where a game means more than 3 points - a game where you could employ words like 'turning point' etc, and I think this is the first this season. Particularly after giving the late goal away on Thursday - this just feels BIG.

Agreed. Seriously annoying me how little chances he is getting considering players like Wisdom have got games despite Robinson being better prospect.
Id say Flannos better than them both

Is it not getting slightly worrying that only one of BRs summer purchases have delivered?

None of them have been bad. Compared to last summer they've been brilliant

Borini's not really had a chance to be fair. Also, they've only been here for 5 months.

Wisdom is in for tactical reasons and Downing is better than Robinson.

I'd argue against that. Robinson was always impressive when he played.
Pretty happy with Arse taking it.

Disappointing.

I take it Downings only playing because Wisdom is injured and he'll be covering at full back with Enrique in a more advanced role?

Wisdom is in for tactical reasons and Downing is better than Robinson.

Those tactical reasons being shifting the BEST RB in the league to the left to play a young CB at RB. And no, Downing isnt better than Robinson, certainly not at LB.

Pretty close to the team I've wanted to see for a while, provided Downing is either right forward or behind Enrique (oddly). The one big question mark will be Suarez and Gerrard for me, as they both try pretty difficult passes/moves quite often and that could cause us to lose a lot of possession high up the pitch, something which has been our downfall a few times.

Not at all, it's the world class players trying things that occasionally come off and lead to goals

We need to be resolute and strong in defensive centre mid and at the back, we should be able to afford the odd loss of possession without it leading automatically to goals against.
A win for the Liverpool country

Who knows, Downing and Enrique may not just stand in their allotted places but interchange in a fluid formation, I know it's nothing like Football Manager, but bear with it.

If Downing is playing LB I can see another 25 minute sub, he's clearly awkward there and I Laudrup won't see past that. I'm slightly worried in that respect. If we win this it'll be in the second half when Suso/Shelvey get involved.

That comment shows just how little you know about football management.

Football Manager has a facility to allow players to interchange positions.

Completely disagree. One of them is actually a left back.

I don't see anyone arguing here. Discussing possible line-ups

Ditto.

I always think it's odd that people don't like debate about football on football forums.

Key word: forum. Definition: A meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Enough of this Downing left back debate.
Swansea's only clean sheet was the 1st game of the season against QPR.
Would be very disappointed if we didn't score!

Pretty happy with that team.  Probably enough potential tactical flexibility and solidity in it that Rodgers can tinker with it in game without having to waste substitutions trying to wrest control from Swansea. Hopefully the 3 lads in the middle can earn us the right to play our game. If we can control that area we'll be fine.

And then use the bench later in the game to finish it off.

It's going to be an interesting one this. Win it and we might have some momentum going into December.

Must admint Cesc is a great prospect new him before he went to Arsenal, same with Pique(now at ManU) and Messi also from Barcelona. Watch out for these guys in the future look very good.

Get him in the scouting team ASAP!

Enrique to play a similar position as he did to Wigan. Perhaps do it after HT to give us boost. He looks fluid in that position.

Johnson/Raheem should be good!

Do Johnson and Enrique spend their time on the ball passing to each other, running 5 yards before passing back again? Hardly comparable.
