My son loves the latest films and he likes the second trilogy, its been more of a struggle to get him into the original trilogy.

At the end of the day, he now has an interest in Star Wars, it wasn't how I did it, but he's there.

He's 12 and plot holes and ridiculousness don't mean much to him....he enjoys the storylines and the whizz bang of it all
I love this. We're all old grumpy guts because the franchises we grew up with are moving in directions we're not necessarily on board with but hearing about kids falling in love with these properties [thanos]does put a smile on my face[/thanos].

You could say that about 90% of films ever made. People love to break down films like these for some reason. The OT was just as nonsensical at times but yet we all love them and hate these new ones

Nothing is truer than the saying that no one hates Star Wars more than a Star Wars fan

I'm a Star Wars fan, I like Star Wars movies, love them sometimes but ROS was utter tripe.

Poorly written, conceived, pace terrible, big bad laughably poor and final scenes just pathetic.

It was rushed and it felt rushed.

The person I was responding to wasn't saying I was wrong, they were outright dismissing any negativity as fanboyism. It's been a theme throughout the thread, people who clearly get annoyed by the over-critical fans and try to compensate by being overly forgiving. I don't hate all new Star Wars and like all the old stuff, as I said above I like some of the new stuff and dislike some of it, and I'd like to be able to talk about why without people getting in a huff and repeatedly trying to shut down any discussion that isn't glowing positivity.

crack on, I'm not arsed.

just don't get in a huff yourself.

Been putting of watching this, but finally took the plunge yesterday.

Utterly boring. It comes off as way too rushed. You don't have time to process or contemplate events before something new happens. Sad.

Your review is very accurate for me. It's like a Michael Bay version of Star Wars. I'm actually quite surprised JJ Abrams could make a film that dull, he's usually reliable. Just goes to show how Big a Star Wars gig is to deliver, when you don't have the full development time (after the previous director was thrown off).

Its seems like they have a new plan for the new Star Wars films and series and copy the Marvel stuff and set it all in the time line, so I guess they can do cross over films etc it seems the time line will be based on the Mandalorian TV series.

I stopped after 14 seconds. "What we've seen taking shape is taking shape". Thanks for that. Is there a place I can just read about this supposed news?

Probably not mate - Grace Randolph usually specialises in agenda-driven unsubstantiated clickbait - with her opinion portrayed as fact... 'MCU is popular? Well I best do a video on how Star Wars should be like MCU to 'fix' it...'

The sort of 'monetised negativity' or hate that is prevalent on youtube these days via 'the algorithm' ('hate is the new love', and if you get enough clicks doing it = $$$, but you seemingly have to stay angry / increase the hate to ward off the competition, and keep those subscriber numbers up).

If you click on those types of video... If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny forever will your youtube page be filled of this type of repeated angry waffling / toxicity ;) Though fair play to those to that enjoy that type of thing...

AT-AT Chat, HelloGreedo, EckhartsLadder, EC Henry, Star Wars Explained (although a little dry and 'safe'), and Nathan Butler are 'old-school channels' well worth a watch, even if you disagree with the content, or have a different POV etc... all are done with respect and at least an decent attempt at providing some sort of balance, info or insight.

This guy pulled a few of these toxic type of Star Wars youtubers (and their type of claims, content and delivery) - up on it a while back, before TROS, quite funny too....

'Review of The Fandom Menace' - from the 'Maj0r Lee' youtube channel. (it is 47 minutes long though - yet well worth an illuminating watch ;D):-

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/MM-3lw9bIjE" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/MM-3lw9bIjE</a>

(in one section it features the guy from Geeks and Gamers literally picking up his toys and throwing them across the room - and also states he is only in this for the views / clicks! :lmao  Also features Mike Zeroh, Den Of Nerds, That Star Wars Girl, Vito, Robert Storms, VaughnJogVlog, Hayden Perno, Stefan Kyriazis of The Express, ComicArtistPro, JohnTalks, Mindless Entertainment, and Grace Randolph - from the above video)

'The Empire Strikes Back killed Star Wars | A Bridled Rage Review' - from the AT-AT Chat channel. (18 minutes long - a quality parody & take on modern toxic fan 'reviews'):-

It is a shame really - as the prevalent and toxic youtube videos out there take away from the genuine criticisms of the films that other people have.
