Wigan vs Liverpool - (Wednsday 10/11: 1945)
« on: November 10, 2010, 06:47:09 pm »
Evening all, having a fierce argument. Trying to convince my mother that football is more important than Gray's Anatomy, so I can be with you all tonight. IF not I'll be watching via stream so I'd be a few minutes off.

E-mail scam artist Djphal has posted tonight's bench as: Hansen Shelvey Eccleston Spearing Ngog Poulsen Jovanovic. But starting XI the same. Word of mouth is that Roy is going a bit senile and reliving his Fulham days. The point of the bench is to strike fear into the other team's fans, not your own.

Tonight's game is brought to you by our sponsor, Cream Puffs®. Cream Puffs, the manly man's choice of snack™

Don't know if I can provide you with anything more then my little old self tonight. Mad men is unaccounted for and since Chakan took up his new job he has been pretty busy. Being classified information I can't give anything out, but for those who can read between the lines. Those big into politic might have noticed that the 1st lady has looked a lot happier since she hired her new personal assistant. Not saying there's anything behind it, just that it's an awful big "coincidence".

Seeing as it's same team, but nothing's been said about formation.

I hope we don't see Meireles wasted on the right. Yes he was good against Malouda & Cole, but Wigan hardly contend with Chelsea in left-wing quality

Now that it's sunk in a little bit. I can not for the life of me understand how bringing Spearing and Poulsen to Wigan can help the team. Seriously, we don't have one defender or attacking midfielder in the reserves? Has, at any point in history, any team gone to Wigan, played them and after the game the comment "thank fuck we brought 2 holding midfielders on the bench or that would've ended up badly" been said?

If so, please PM me because I would love to see that game.

Just been brought to my attention that Kuyt is starting his second game after weeks of injury. Never thought of it like that, as I'm so used to him being always fit.

Whether that's proof of Kuyt's über-fantastic super awesome recovery or a desperate attempt to keep a winning side together.

Appearantly Chamakh has already scored for Arsenal, so first goal is out of the question.

Not much happening at the moment. We're trying to establish control but not much luck so far. Wigan's plan seems to be score early and hope to hang on.

Server down for a few minutes,  for me anyways. Don't knpw if it was just me, my theory is that RAWK couldn't handle my awesomeness.

Not much happened. Lucas got a yellow card for (what looked to me) a realtively small foul, but probably a yellow for stopping the counter then the foul itself.

On 16-ish minute Torres, Gerrard and Kuyt link up outside the box with Kuyt's header finding Gerrard but the skipper's shot is over the bar

After a quite strong period on our behalf it's all Wigan now. But tbf to us the ref has been well shit tonight.

Lucas looks unconvincing tonight and looks quite tired (unsurprisingly though after Sunday's game) but worrying in midfield. Let's see if it balances out, but if it doesn't I'd go for a Ngog for Lucas, Ngog up top, Raul midfield, Kuyt right

As happy as I was with keeping a winning side this is getting bad. The team looks exhausted out there. Kuyt walking around, not chasing his man (!!!) and more dangerously, Lucas not having a good game in midfield

30:00 N'Zogbia causing all types of trouble. Running at the defense, finds his man yet again but is let down by his team mates.

Figueroa and N'Zogbia connecting well so far in the game. Needs to be countered. Imo, if N'Zogbia had more class around him I'd wager he'd have an assist so far

32:00 Lucas, looking exhausted, with a horrible pass, N'Zogbia finds Rodallega who scores but is clearly offside. Clearly offside, but our play is breaking apart

Raul instincively drifting into the middle. Gerrard moves leaves gaps in midfield and N'Zogbia has been extremely dangerous. This needs fixing or we'll concede before half-time

Who is this ref ?!

Seriously, he does realise there are two teams , ya?!   :butt

Torres, hacked down.....Kuyt hacked down ...... what are we Stoke?!

Peter Walton. Is the ref, he's setting a bad precedence (sp?) They're getting away with all types of cheap fouls and our players are dropping from 50/50 challenges as a result.

41:00 Rodallega inches away from connecting with the cross. Would've been 1-1 had he had the extra step. We're being alarmingly overplayed for the last 15 minutes.

Roy needs to make a change, tactical or personel. No later then half-time

good work on the commentary.
must be tough going

I manage. It's the trying to do something else that's the problem. I takes a lot of focus doing this and you miss out on somethings when you're typing, but I manage it.

We really cannot sit back like this in the second half. I hope Hodgson has spotted how tired Kuyt looks. Ngog needs to be introduced early, or Gerrard behind Torres, Raul alongside Lucas and Babel on the right to stretch them???

I sincerely hope so. As much as people complained about roation, it's really hurting the team to keep the same 11.

I'm hoping for a change in the team. Raul is so blatantly wasted out on the right it's depressing. Lucas is a shadow of himself, as is Kuyt. I don't know why but I have a weird feeling we'll see Shelvey soon.

Meireles-Gerrard
Shelvey-Kuyt-Maxi
Torres

Or Shelvey for Kuyt, Meireles still right and Lucas still in midfield

49:00 Good play by Lucas who finds Maxi to Shelvey but his pass to Gerrard was scaringly predictable and picked out.

Wigan rush on the counter and Koncheskey for whatever reason fouls the Wigan player who literally had nowhere to go

Rodallega equalises. The worst part is this has been coming for half an hour.

N'Zogbia finds Staam, Reina reaches for the ball but Rodallega bpicks it up. Sadly, deserving

54:00 Diame with the through ball, it evades Skrtel and only Pepe's brilliance in steering Rodallega away from the ball keeps us level.

It's all Wigan now and has been the entire half. Roy needs to make a tactical on-pitch change ASAP!

Bit harsh but Lucas should have been closer to the Columbian.

True, but in all fairness it's so blatantly obvious the lad is tired.

No more than Wigan deserve. We've been utter shite since the goal, and our inability to get service to Torres is quite unreal.

Don't think we'll even get a draw at this rate. Can't even keep the ball.

Ain't that the sad truth. It's times like these where I just don't feel confident knowing Roy's on the bench. I'm holding out for a Gerrard/Torres brilliance and if that doesn't work, an 80th minute Ngog sub

58:30 Kelly stops the free kick with his face, but Wigan players shout handball. Young Marting bleeding from the mouth.

Seriously, we have been abysmal since the goal.

Peter Walton has been shocking in the match. So many fouls that aren't called. Tackles that break down play, time and time again.

Beggars belief how Kuyt is still on the pitch, he looks completely out of it. FFS Roy sub him!!!

He doesn't even make a run with the ball, let alone without it. Jovanovic needs to come on NOW!

Eccleston or even Spearing would do a better job. I'd rather we rotate then keep players on that can't even move
