They must have decided he'd completed his run up  http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-14---the-penalty-kick

feinting to kick the ball once the kicker has completed the run-up (feinting in the run-up is permitted); the referee cautions the kicker

He decided wrong then!

Haven't seen the penalty but you're not allowed to stop your run. Rule changed a few years ago.

Source? Pretty confident that your wrong to be honest.

Lamela should be off for that.

Fingers crossed the game gets abandoned due to a blizzard if Spurs are winning towards the end.  ;D

Lucas Moura is carving them up here. Dribbled through half their team in the first half before just being denied an assist and has provided 2 assists here in the second.

Lamela is dirty ankle-clipping twat on the sly...a bit like Alan Clarke and Duncan Mckenzie...they type of player Tommy Smith would take great delight in trying to decapitate...
They have life in them, they have humour, they're arrogant, they're cocky and they're proud. And that's what I want my team to be.

Illegal feinting. Stopping during the runup to take the peno.
Sorry, I meant what was the result? A goal kick?

How long can you stop for? the laws say a feint, which to me is a quick stop, Son stood still for quite a bit.

How do you stop a kick? You mean like go to kick the ball but deliberately miss it to fool the goalie and then kick it properly?

Pull your foot back and then stop it half way, wait for the keeper to dive, then continue the kick.

That's probably one that goes to the opinion of the referee. It's not really clear in the Laws, but might be in the Advices.

Linfield v Glentoran 1995 - Orange ball used in the first half but it burst, so they had to use a white ball as that's all they had. From 1:26  ;D

Think we've all got our wires crossed here. I never said you couldn't stutter I said you couldn't completely stop your run 'feint'. So I'm correct, yer all wrong.

Quote
Now if a player dummy's after completing their run up, they will be booked and an indirect free kick will be rewarded to the opposing team.

That is a pretty big punishment and since stuttering run ups are still allowed provided the dummy comes before the player has completed his run up, referees will have to make some tough judgements regarding whether a run up has been completed

;D

As I said, it comes down to the refs interpretation of what Son was doing at the end of his run-up.

You can totally do that. You just can't pretend to kick the ball. Once you are at the ball, you have to kick it in one action. How you approach the ball, though, is entirely up to you.

Should've worded it better, I meant stop your run just as your about to kick it, like a dummy in effect.

That would be allowed, though. It's once you begin the kicking action that the "feint" rule comes into effect.
