Great win and just what was needed.

Not convinced Diaz was offside but at least we got the 3 points.

Onto Sheff Utd.

Paul Tierney on VAR. What do you expect?

I'd imagine the ref went into our dressing room after that to book every single one of our lads

Great result, tough start but we played well and kept creating.

Yeah, it's never a good fixture for us.

Home straight now, let's start getting the rest of the lads back.

I'd feel so much happier if we had Jota back, but it sounds as if Ali is on his way back now so hopefully we will soon be at full strength.

my nerves are shot to bits. made hard work of that .

was always going to be a tricky game against a side who we usually struggle to beat. Going a goal down made it more difficult but we played well overall.

We were much better against them than we have been in recent games. Last 10 minutes were nervy but will take that victory. Can now relax for the other game :)

My heart rate can go well over 100 in the final minutes, but it didn't go above 68 during injury time in this match. Maybe I've stopped caring so much?

First of all,  PHEEEEEEEW!!!. BRILLIANT RESULT! GET IN!!!

Our inexperience is showing and we look nervous at times and lack killer instinct.  Going forward, we need to be more ruthless. We had a clear counter and I knew we wouldn't score. Come on! We also have to cut out our bad habit of going behind.

Anyway, time to grab some popcorn and enjoy the City-Arsenal game

We're managed by Klopp and have a bunch of players in the squad who have won lots of trophies.  I know we have a few youngsters in the team at the moment but it's not like we're a team who haven't won big trophies, there's enough experience in the team and coaching staff to see us through.

It's just that we're one of the most open teams in the league, so even a opposition in bad form will get a chance or two against us because we're not set up to kill games.
Sit down, shock is better taken with bent knees.

Terrifying lack of game management at the end but hopefully we'll learn from it. Just not quite firing on those counter attacks that have become our staple. Mac Allister absolutely outstanding again. Highest compliment I can pay him is that he reminds me of Thiago in 21/22 except insanely productive in the final third as well. What a player and what a signing.

All about the result, now we can sit back and enjoy at least one of our rivals dropping points. Happy days.

Onwards and upwards. MacAllister very classy. Felt like a red was going to come out pretty much all game. De Zebri's divers hopefully take points off Arsenal and Man City. Salah rusty but still able to make a difference. Hopefully he finds his groove game by game. No injuries. 3 points. Chill.

We seem to stop playing once we take the lead and fortunately today, they didn't have the quality to hurt us unlike in the FA Cup against the Mancs.

Fouls
20 - 6   :mindblown

A number of those fouls were from Brighton players losing their balance rather than actual fouls. Also, having that many fouls against us just messes with our momentum during a game.

Fucking hell.

To be fair it was disallowed by the onfield linesman, the VAR was trying to clarify whether that initial decision was correct so we only stood to potentially benefit from the review

My personal view is that when they’re that tight the onfield decision should stand, that would obviously mean that we don’t get the goal today but I suspect it would benefit us overall.

Btw I don't get why we didn't control the game in the last 15-20min.

It could be a number of reasons. The first one being we couldn't finish the game off, that creates tension and if it gets very tense at the ground it spreads to the players as well. I just wanted us to keep hold of the ball for a couple of minutes but they seemed to be very anxious to score another goal but couldn't get the final pass right, which meant we kept gifting the ball to Brighton. It's going to be tense now, as we're approaching the finishing stage now.

It should have been a comfortable win. Think Mo had three times the amount of shots as Brighton had.

Anfield sometimes doesn’t help. The nervy atmosphere really translated to the pitch at the end. But I really do think De Zerbi is way too obstinate as a manager. They should have been taken to the cleaners today, instead some will make him out to be a genius.

Brighton very good in possession (they always were under Potter) but there's no backbone to them at all. They're very easy to create chances against - we were very wasteful today.
