Our next 3 games looks like our toughest run this season, 7 points or more from those and we are 100% in contention for reaching 90 points and in the title hunt.

Do you not think that City are hitting 100 this year?

West Ham tomorrow. That's a tough one. Can't see us getting anything from that.
I agree. They are up to a flying start. Even Antonio fancies himself against us.

Prof should adjust it to be par 0, no chance we're winning.

Chelsea -13!!! Hahahaha

And they've not even had 1 par 1 game yet!

Huge 2 or 3 weeks in terms of where we are in the title race....

By my count, on the APL Chelsea are only above Sheffield (-15) and Burnley (-14).

Luton are -8, Bournemouth -9, Everton -10.

Being below two teams that are yet to win a game is not a good sign.

Chelsea have had the easiest of starts too.  Maybe they will pick up against better teams?

No they don’t. They’re on 0 for now as it was a par 1 game and they picked up 1 point.

Thanks, Prof!

Very encouraging start from us obviously - but jesus, Chelsea! Prof's graph can't even keep up with your shitshow anymore. I wonder if they will massively overperform in the more difficult games through the season as/if their team gels more.

What would Brighton be on? Given our next two league games, it would be good to know their current form.

+1 I think.

+4 from United and Wolves, but -3 for losing to West Ham.

That’s our VAR assisted “glitch”, now four wins in a row are expected. And they do all look winable.

So we stay where we are on +3 and next closest is Spurs on 0? It does feel like we've had a fairly tricky start - it can be a bit arbitrary splitting the easier par 1s and the par 3s (Wolves feels like a generous +2) but it's clear there is an unequivocal top 8:

Liverpool: 4 played, 3 away from home [2 wins]
Spurs: 3 played, 1 away from home [2 wins]
City: 2 played, 1 away from home [1 win]
Arsenal: 3 played, 0 away from home [2 wins]

Arsenal (not played a single away game against a top half side) and City (only played Newcastle and Arsenal of last season's top 8, home or away) stand out. Slight caveat being that our top 8 games thus far are the "easier" ones, i.e. 6th-8th place from last year, plus Newcastle. It feels very bunched up at the top of the table right now, only 4 points separating the top 6 which is missing Newcastle, Utd and Chelsea and you'd imagine at least one of them would expect to be up there in the CL spots nearer the end of the season. Incidentally Newcastle have probably had an equally if not more difficult start as us - four T8 games including Villa at home and Brighton away, but swap Spurs away for City away, and then obviously we faced each other.

Us and Chelsea are the only teams on the graph to have beaten top-half opposition away from home so far this season, which feels wild actually.

World footy media discovers our Prof:

Liverpool have had the 'best' start of all Premier League clubs this season according to new data

Liverpool have had the 'best' start to the Premier League season despite sitting in fourth place, according to new data.

The Reds drew 2-2 with Brighton on Sunday after coming from 1-0 down to lead heading into the closing stages.

But Lewis Dunk's late finish denied Jurgen Klopp's side victory, and they ended the weekend three points behind league leaders Tottenham as a result.

Arsenal also overtook them thanks to their 1-0 win over Manchester City, who are currently in third place.

That result means that Spurs and Arsenal are the only unbeaten sides left in the Premier League, with Liverpool having been defeated 2-1 by Ange Postecoglou's side in the previous weekend.

But according to football statistics website SoccerStats, it is the Reds that have had the best start to the campaign.

That is, at least, in terms of the Relative Performance Index - judged upon Liverpool's points per game multiplied by their opponents' points per game.

The Reds are deemed to have had the fourth-hardest start to the season - ahead of only Brentford, Bournemouth and Sheffield United - when it comes to points per game over the first eight matches.

Having played Newcastle, Spurs, Aston Villa and Brighton at the beginning of the campaign, it is hard to argue against the view that Liverpool have had a challenging start.

The Premier League top 10, as per the Relative Performance Index, is as follows:

1. Liverpool (3.38)
2. Aston Villa (3.08)
3. Arsenal (2.95)
4. Brighton (2.78)
5. Newcastle (2.51)
6. Manchester City (2.32)
7. West Ham (2.26)
8. Crystal Palace (2.22)
9. Manchester United (2.21)
10. Tottenham (1.98)
11. Fulham (1.82)
12. Nottingham Forest (1.64)
13. Chelsea (1.44)
14. Brentford (1.40)
15. Wolves (1.34)
16. Everton (1.13)
17. Burnley (0.77)
18. Luton (0.71)
19. Bournemouth (0.71)
20. Sheffield United (0.22)

Only 2 par 1s in our next 14.

So if we get 12 wins and 2 draws or something similar etc. We will be on at least +3 after 22 games.

City and Villa failed to beat Wolves and they shouldn't have lost vs United, they are a decent team (good in the first half against Liverpool too) so I wouldn't really say generous.
