From Ste's facebook page.
Hi,
Some of you will know who I am, but most of you probably won't.
I'm the lad who wrote the song 'liar liar'.
I realise some of you will have been added to this group without knowledge or consent. The reason for that being, someone who knows you will have added you, in the hope you will join our campaign.
Before you discard this message or leave the group, I hope you can take the time to read why this song was wrote and why this group was started.
'Liar Liar', like most of my songs, was written with the hope it would be heard and appreciated by millions of people. That was my hope. My expectation was that, like most of my songs, it would go unheard, played in half empty bars around the North West. The latter, is the life the song has lead for the past 2 years. However, last week it was played to a stadium full of people at Anfield.
A few weeks ago, I released an album of songs I've recorded over the past few years. On that album was the song 'Liar Liar'. On hearing the song and realising what it was about, without my knowledge or consent a couple of mates of mine began plugging the song around the Internet.
The reaction since has been overwhelming and after many requests I have managed to get the song released as a single on April 4th.
All proceeds from single sales will be donated to Hope for Hillsborough, HSJC and HJC.
'Liar Liar', was not wrote with the intention to become a tribute to the 96 people who lost their lives at Hillsborough. Nor was it written with the intention to educate or make people aware of the lies that were told following Hillsborough. It was wrote because something had been building up inside me for
19 years and as it happens, I relay my feelings in song.
The song is about the disgust I felt at the lies that were told following Hillsborough. Lies that were fed to the media and the British public by people intent on extricating themselves from responsibility.
Lies that stole the dignity of families and communities suffering a fate that I can't bear to imagine.
After Lord Justice Taylor's report following the inquiry, these lies were proved to be lies.
Whilst, most publication and media groups retracted their initial stories and apologised, one newspaper stood by those lies. That newspaper is today boycotted in many homes across Merseyside.
Since that fateful day Families and support groups have fought for Justice for the 96. I pray oneday that justice will come and when it does, people will then know "The Truth".
Whilst It may not have been my intention, there is now an opportunity for us to educate the uneducated and make people aware of what actually happened on that fateful day.
If we can bring this song into the public eye, maybe we can achieve something worthwhile and also make some money for Hope for Hillsborough, HFSG and HJC.
Please tell your friends, the week commencing April 4th, download 'Liar Liar' on itunes or Amazon.
Just a quick note to all of you already campaigning. Thanks for all the support, 800+ members in our first week is great work.
Well done team!
Cheers
Stephen
