I'd go further. I can think of only three or four players I've seen - ever - who might have pulled it off. Cruyff deffo, Maradona deffo, pele deffo and bestie probably. That said, I've never seen any of those four ever score a goal as unique. Loads of amazing goals, dribbles etc but none with such unfeasible technique in such a confined space at that pace.
I'm going to go with the Newcastle goal for the same reason, it is all about a technique (at speed) that only a few special players have. I would add Bergkamp to that list (that world cup goal!).
The long shots (halfway v Norwich and the dipping volley #1 against them last month) and free kicks are genius but they are all goals that so many players are capable of once in a while (if they just happen to catch it right). This one just shows how much skill he has.
#3 vs Norwich last month comes close. All I can say is that his collection of special goals is increasing with EVERY game and we no longer have a top ten, more like a top 20, and getting close to top 30 genius goals. I was pissing myself laughing after his 2nd against Cardiff, this guy is just taking the piss out of everyone!
Every time I watch it I'm surprised at how quickly the ball is traveling as it leaves his foot. To generate that much power from that deep in the shooting movement would seem to require some sort of elastic release mechanism.
Yep, look at goal #1 against WBA, when he took it past the defender look how quickly he released the shot, before the keeper could react and its in the net. So much power, but the way he hits it is not quite a natural way most players strike the ball, he seems to be able to kick the ball in his stride. Not many can do that and it is a thing of beauty.
The one against Spurs at Anfield last season was an example of him striking the ball whilst running that caught Lloris out just enough to get beaten at the near post
