It should die down by 8pm tonight. Rain with a moderate breeze according to BBC.

That's a relief. Thanks.

I'm also thinking that this could be a serious mis-match. Thiago five years ago might have stood a very good chance. But Darwin is precisely the sort of player he wouldn't fancy facing today.
I'm still waiting for Thiago's form to drop off but whenever I've seen Chelsea play he's been their best defender.  He doesn't really let himself get isolated into foot races and his timing in tackles is still really good.

Maybe tonight will be the beginning of the end for him!

The wind is crazy at the moment, anyone know if this is due to continue tonight? It could certainly play a part if it's as bad as it is now.

I've not long been out in it and it's not only windy as fuck, there's a proper chill and looks like it's gonna chuck down later.

Big coats on!

We've had him in a lot of games, there is nothing strange about it, which is another reason why they need to bring more referees into the game overall.

He is a huge outlier in terms of how many times he has reffed our games.

What I don’t get is when we had the opportunity to put some pressure on PGMOL after the Spurs match we should have called this bS of Tierney being ever present in our games.

Was refreshing my memory of the 2022 final. I'd quite forgotten Chelsea had two goals ruled out!

Quote
Four minutes into the second half, Mount was presented with yet another good opportunity, only for him to hit the post after Kelleher seemed beaten. In the 69th minute, Liverpool thought they had taken the lead via a Joël Matip header, but the goal was ruled out after the video assistant referee (VAR) intervened, judging that Virgil van Dijk, from an offside position, had fouled Reece James in the build-up. Both Liverpool and Chelsea continued to create chances, but neither side was able to score during regulation time.

In extra-time, Chelsea had goals from Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz ruled out for offside.

If VAR had just overlooked that supposed sodding foul, we could have won the game in the 90 instead of the need for ET and those nerve shredding penalties I watched through my fingers in the pub!

Thanks for the OP Raid :)

Some great memories there, in one the FA Cup final wasn't the greatest but Tsimikas' winning penalty was a brilliant moment.

Generally don't like playing these, we never seem to beat them comfortably. Hopefully today will end that.

Probably a moot point but who is on penalties while Mo is out?

Dom if he starts? Or Nunez or Jota maybe?

Remember Nunez took one in the Europa Leage when Salah wasn't on the pitch.

But you're right, moot point as it's unlikely to be an issue.

jeez, more OTT score predictions.

we all HOPE it will be a blowout.  given the fact that there's been barely a single goal scored in these games over the pat 5 years .... why do you say that?

Don’t think a 4-0 win at a rocking Anfield with the form we’re in is OTT.  We’ve really clicked into gear the last few games, and have a stronger squad with the players coming back.  Chelsea have been on a decent run, but have had very winnable games.  I’ll stick to that prediction.

I was sat upper third of the Kop, mid centre left when that went in (with a stinking cold on what was a freezing April day I recall). Felt like bodies were flying everywhere when that went in! One of the best atmospheres at Anfield I've ever seen.

Smart move from Klopp, rewarding Conor for his excellent performance, keeping Trent fresh and easing him back into midfield if we really need to unlock that shower in the second half. Because I think we all know Poch is gonna park the fucking bus here.

Possibly Mo's best goal. And in one sense he was forced by the covering defender into a kind of shot he doesn't normally take. His preference is usually to bend it from there, but such a shot would probably have hit the knee of the defender. So he just wellied it instead. Straight as a dart.
