Milner’s back.

That's why I'm concerned. Given the availability of both Fabinho and Milner, I think it's Milner that goes to RB because I have no doubt that Klopp will want Fab's influence in midfield. Felipe Anderson against Milner scares me a bit.

I know what you mean but I think the Zaha performance against him was an anamoly, I’ve never seen him shown up like that before at full back. I don’t think Anderson will be as direct either and hopefully Wij plays to give some cover which was sorely missed against Palace. TAA would be preferable but I think Millie can give us a solid showing if called upon.

Anderson is the better player than Zaha so he will be a threat regardless. Again being dragged away from the topic at hand somewhat.

I'd prefer Fabinho in the role as we have more than enough options in midfield.

He’ll be a threat but he’s not as direct or quick over 5/10 yards as Zaha.

I’d keep Fab in midfield, he’s currently our best midfielder. Don’t change two areas of the team.

I think they solution will be to baby-sit Milner with a midfielder close to him till TAA & Gomez return. Klopp will be looking at that I think, & it may have some drawbacks to playing our normal game, but we may have to make do with what we have.

In three weeks, hopefully the injury situation is better.

Zaha did Milner solely on speed. He just knocked the ball past him and ran. Anderson doesn’t have that raw pace, and Milner is much stronger than him.

Zaha might not be as good a player as Felipe Anderson, but he's a much better dribbler, and Milner didn't even have that bad a game against him. Got torched once for the first goal and the second yellow was sloppy but also largely Henderson's fault. I'd stick Milner at RB with absolutely no worries.

Van Dijk's sniffles I feel much less comfortable about. Can see him pulling through though, I'd be much more worried if James Pearce didn't have a link to push on people in that tweet.

Milner was the most dribbled past fullback in the entire league and that was 2 seasons ago.

If VVD is out on Wednesday that is huge blow! That would be 3 out of our 1st choice back 4 out. If that’s the case we could be relying on our attack like in previous seasons. It could be a rollercoaster night tomorrow!

Define ‘dribbled past.’ If he showed his man to the corner flag and he went past him who cares? If he was continually being beaten, and chances were being created that’s a different story but from memory that wasn’t the case at all.

Jürgen Klopp provided a positive update on the fitness of several players ahead of Liverpool’s return to action against Leicester City at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The manager confirmed Virgil van Dijk has resumed training following illness, while Georginio Wijnaldum is also back in contention after a knee issue.

Elsewhere, Fabinho is set to join his teammates in Tuesday evening’s workout at Melwood; however, Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be ready to face the Foxes.

Klopp said: “Virg was a little bit ill, but he trained yesterday and will train today, so we will see.

“Dejan [Lovren] is fine, Gini trained [and] Fabinho will train today.

“Trent is getting closer and closer and it all looks very positive, but he will not be ready for tomorrow.”

Trent can't come back soon enough. We can't continue to play midfielders at RB and lose their influence in midfield. Gomez is the bigger loss though; he was as good as VVD earlier in the season. Hopefully it doesn't take him a lot of time to get back to full speed.

Me too. But for the squad's sake, and for our midfield's sake, having TAA back is much more urgent. Fingers crossed he has had a while training and is available come Bournemouth. Could do without our crowd shitting themselves every time the opposition are near our right back

Bayern is looking a lot more difficult than it was at one point, they'll fancy scoring more than 1 here now v our reserve cb's. God help us if anything happens to Trent or Robbo before then.

Hopefully a return to last season's type performance, they can have 2 like we gifted Roma but we'll put 5 past them.

Fuck. I hope there’s been no setbacks. From 6 weeks, to 8 weeks (last press conference I think Klopp said Gomez was a couple weeks away), to “no timetable” but 3 more weeks is too soon.

I'm happy with Milner vs West Ham. Yes he had trouble vs Zaha, but TAA would also probably have had major issues that day since IMO Milner did not get much help from Matip. And there are not too many players as difficult to deal with as Zaha.

It's all very confusing I'm sure the Echo said he was back to light runing in Dubai, I wonder if he actually went there now. Now it would appear he's not even doing that, but its a waste of time speculating as we don't have any definite facts to go on.
