Dortmund hit the bar twice in the first five minutes. Had another good chance after that too. Really good game so far.

What a turnaround for Monchengladbach :) Their bold move to trust an unknown coach with zero first league experience pays off for now.

That's how confident they are.

Another good win for Dortmund and Tuchel despite a missed Aubamayeng peno.

LIVERPOOL are interested in signing FC Schalke 04 defender Joel Matip who is out of contract next summer.

Matip, 24, is a Cameroon international and will be well-known to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp following his time in Germany.

The right-footed Matip can also play in a defensive midfield role which would widen his appeal.
Liverpool are likely to see veteran Kolo Toure leave the club when his contract runs out at the end of the season and will need to bolster their defensive options.

Matip was courted by Newcastle in the summer when a Ł10million move was mooted but, with his contract due to expire in the coming months, Liverpool may prefer to wait.

They can talk to the player from January 1 and look to come to a pre-contract agreement with him.

Klopp is also an admirer of Matip's Schalke team-mate Leroy Sane, who is regarded as one of the next waves of stars to emerge in Germany.

Sane is just 19 and made his international debut in Germany's loss to France last month at the Stade de France which was the target of terrorist attacks.

There is zero chance to get Sane in the near future. Schalke would never sell their crown juwel.

Matip is not bang average. He is one of the most underrated CBs.
He wont be sold no matter what, but go on and believe all that crap spouted in English media.

They sold Draxler to a direct rival. Surely they will entertain if the offer is decent enough?

Schalke are colossally boring and shit. Their coach has to be on thin ice there, he's gash. They've so many average to shit players; Kolasinac, Choupo-Moting and Riether to name a few.

Agreed. It kind of gives you hope Firmino might end up being a big player for us though, the fact they appear to be missing him so much.

Schalke seemed so entertaining in highlights earlier in the season, but against Dortmund they were playing a 6-4-0 formation for large chunks of the game, at home. Don’t think they’ve quite reached Di Matteo levels of awfulness yet though.

Absolutely, their attack has fallen to pieces without him. A couple of seasons ago they were scoring for fun, now they can barely muster any. Schalke's main tactic seems to be Geis playing long balls up to Choupo Moting, it's proved successful in this game but they just look desperately short of invention to me. Before the goal they'd not threatened much either

Fully aware of that C. The problem is that ever since that World Cup victory, he seems to have been given carte blanche by referees to indulge in whatever shithouse antics he likes. It happened every time I watched Schalke last season and he was at it again last night.

Di Santo is to a high level? Is that the same striker who's scored 46 goals in 249 games and reached double figures once? 1 in 17 this season in the league, he's shit and has no business at a team chasing Champions League football. Huntelaar is nowhere near what he used to be, he's so static now and Goretzka is not close to being as good as everybody claims. Their tactics were Geis playing long balls to Choupo Moting and in the end Schalke were lucky to win that game.

They should have called it best German players of all time since it really takes heavy influence of WC performances.

Lahm at 15 is crazy. Khedira and Özil haven't played in Germany since they were 22. I can't believe they use transfer figures as arguments too (Götze and Kroos, really?)

I don't really have a problem with Lahm being ranked so high, but Boateng being ranked higher than Berti Vogts is laughable. Also a shame that they are only looking at players who played during the Bundesliga era, as it leaves out players like Fritz Walter: 357 goals in 364 games for Kaiserslautern.
