Everton (H) W....3pts
West Brom (H) W......3pts
Bournemouth (A)......3pts
Arsenal (A).D........1pt
Swansea (H) W........3pts

Arse away could be the biggest challenge.

I wonder who the Swansea manager will be by the time we play them?

Everton 3 points in a classic 4-3 win.
WBA 3 points in a 3-1 win
Bournemouth 3 points in a 4-2 win
Arsenal 0 points in a 3-1 defeat
Swansea 3 points in a 6-0 win.

Not the most unkind fixture list we could be looking at, let's make it count:

Everton (H) - 3
West Brom (H) - 3
Bournemouth (A) - 3
Arsenal (A) - 1
Swansea (H) - 3

I think Everton will be well up for it but we should have too much for them at home, 3-1.
West Brom might have a bounce in their step with the changes but again we should be putting this away, 2-0.
Bournemouth do okay against the bigger sides on their day, potential banana skin, 2-1.
Arsenal, we need to avoid defeat here to prevent them from gaining on us in our race for 3rd place, 2-2.
Swans would do well at the moment to keep us below 3, going for a 5-1 rout.

13 points, optimistic? Not really, it's highly doable.
11 certainly likely if allowing for a draw asides from Arsenal.

Minimum we should be hitting double figures here  8)

Bournemouth (A) - 3
Arsenal (A) - 1

15 points is doable.

Is it strange to play Arsenal twice before playing Swansea once or does that happen often at the midpoint of the season?

13 points most likely. A win at Emirates is very possible. We will give them a run for their money. If they are as generous as they were against Utd, we will come away with 3 points

I’d reckon 9 or 10 from the next five, which wouldn’t be so bad

We have Bournemouth, Arsenal, Swansea, Leicester and Burnley in the next 5. Suddenly that looks very tough.

Yea, we're 1.82 points/per game for the season. I expect that to continue.
3 wins, a draw and a loss from the next 5 would be bottom line. I'm hoping we'll see the benefits of rotation through Jan and Feb and into the spring.

Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all have top 5 opponents in one of their next 5, so points will be dropped there. Important that 3rd spot doesn't get out of reach.

Here is what I think will happen next:

Leicester (h) - 3
Burnley (a) - 1
City (h) - 3
Swansea (a) - 3
Huddersfield (a) - 3

13 points.

We were unbeaten in this group of five as I predicted although three of the results were draws rather than wins. I'm going to predict four wins and a draw in the next five -

Leicester (h) - 3
Burnley (a) - 3
City (h) - 1
Swansea (a) - 3
Huddersfield (a) - 3.

The Burnley and City game are the difficult ones to predict. Klopp will rotate but Burnley also have a thread bare squad. Really hope we tear the buggers apart but rotation might mean a tight game.

As for the City game I think Klopp will know that we're probably the only team (apart from that 10 man show!) that can hurt City which means Pep will likely play more defensive but somehow we always play well at Anfield against them.

Tricky set of 5 we’ve got coming up.  Burnley will be tough to beat as they are so organized and we’ll be looking at trying to break City’s 19 game win streak when they come to Anfield.  Need to really kick on here and I think the rotation that Klopp has instituted will really help.

Leicester (h) - 3
Burnley (a) - 1
City (h) - 1

Keeping my hopes low! Puel had our number at Southampton last season so I'm worried about the Leicester game, and a Burnley parked bus sounds like a nightmare. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's 6 points.

This i think is what we should aim for. Burnley coming so close after the Leicester game, you would not be surprised to see us drop point there, and they've proven themselves a good side this year.
And for me there are not many teams i would have picked ahead of Liverpool to go toe to toe against City in world football right now. The league may be gone, but in a one off, we can smash that lot. The rest we should, and must win.
Don`t argue with morons, they`ll just bring you down to their level and beat you on experience!

Just think that if anyone is going to cause city a problem it will be us. Before the sending off in the reverse fixture we were the better side and they will also come at us. We have the pace to do a number on them

We'll have City at Anfield. There's no doubt in my mind. We were up for them when we went over to theirs, but we weren't as clinical and not as sharp. The sending off changed the game.
We'll do them. Of that I have no doubt. Our lads will want to put that right as well.

Weird thing to say with City in and amongst this lot, but like everyone else, I think Burnley is the big unknown in these fixtures. We haven't done well against Dyche's lot. We can certainly do them, but it's going to be a bit of a test.

We are on exactly 2 points per game through the first 22 matches and already have 6 points in this current set of 5 matches.  I really think that Klopp’s rotation of the squad is going to allow us to pick up even more points the rest of the way.

Excellent start so far and I think we can easily make that 1 a 3 when it comes to City. It'll be brilliant if we can ruin their unbeaten season.

2 points a game gets you CL football, and whilst this season could be different, I doubt it.

Think if we get 7 points from our next 3, with the 1 coming from City, then we'll have done excellently.

10 wins and 4 draws since that game against Spurs. 34/42 possible points is title winning form (Should have beaten Everton and West Brom in hindsight. Fuck!).

If we keep this up, we week finish second. A miraculous unraveling at City and you'll never know.

As long as we go 2 ppg from here on in, we'll get CL football.

This would mean 77 points with a strong goal difference. One of United, Chelsea and Spurs will fail to achieve that.

Swansea: 3
Huddersfield: 3
Spurs: 1
Southampton: 1
West Ham: 3

Probably not the place to discuss, so please move to relevant thread.

Liverpool have just proved that City are not invincible and they can be beaten. They might drop a few more points along the way. Are liverpool just fighting for 2nd place now or are we seeing a late surge alongside Utd and Chelsea for a title push.

Only 15 points the difference but it has been done before a la Newcastle and Man Utd.

Thoughts?

If we win every remaining game (which is highly unlikely) we'd have 92 points, City only need to win 10 out of 15 to reach that and they'd have to lose the other  5 games, on top of that they have a way better GD, no chance in hell thats happening, just hope we find our top 11 for the start of next season and start the season strong so we can compete.

Re: How many points do you expect in the next 5 matches 2017-18 edition

Swansea (a) : 3
Huddersfield (a) : 1
Spurs (h) : 3
Southampton (a) : 1
West Ham (h) : 3

I see us taking 11 points minimum, if not more.

I think the set of 5 games should remain the same, even though the thread title makes it seem like the other way around. It can't be changing every game.

The current 5 game list is from 21st to 25th fixture

Leicester H
Burnley A
Man City H
Swansea A
Huddersfield A

This way the predictions can be tracked and looked at, at the end of each set of 5 games.
