By the way, the hits just keep comin for my packers....  Ahman Green out for the year, torn thigh muscle, Ferguson out for a month, oh yea, thats on top of starting center Flannagan recovering from abdominal muscle pull, LB Diggs, out another 3 weeks, Javon Walker done for the year...this is getting rediculous...

Gonna have to stick a fork in the Packers, NYU mate. As I'm sure you know they're playing the Bears on Christmas Day on national tv. The people at FOX must be scratching their heads right about now over that matchup! That was a dreadful loss yesterday especially going up against a team with all that turmoil.

I know, I know, but the problem is, the NFC north is just so disgustingly pathetic, I still have the glimmer of hope hahahaha

Finding it hard to believe Washington is getting it done with Brunell at quarterback. He was dreadful last year although for some reason he's endeared himself to Gibbs. I'm hoping they go in the tank because I hate that team and especially that nauseating owner.

He was good at the Jags when he had a go-to guy. I think he has that now in Santana Moss, whereas he never did last year.

He's endeared himself to Gibbs cos of his form. He was 2nd choice at the start but came in for Ramsey an has deservedly kept his startin place.

I'm not so sure that's going to happen, but Washington is much improved.

And to ALPH, Gibbs has a track record of taking old veterans off the scrap heap and turning them into great QB's for a season or two (Doug Williams, Mark Rypien).

Giants-Redskins is going to be hard fought...the key for the Giants is to get Plaxico or Shockey isolated one-on-one where they'll have a huge advantage in their matchups.  The Skins don't have Bailey or Smoot anymore, and I expect Plaxico to pick on Washington's corners.

I think the Giants will do a good job defending Portis, but they can't cover Santana Moss with one DB...

If it comes down to specials, NY's are far better than Washington, especially their backup kicker (compared to Feely, who is one of the best kickers in the NFL)

Not sayin it's gonna happen, just it would be a good position to be in with such a tightly fought division.

We don't have Bailey or Smoot but we do have enough, imo, at corner an safety to do well.

RIP Wellington Mara (1916-2005).  One of the great sportsmen.  The NFL would be nothing if Wellington didn't share his plum TV contract with the rest of the NFL teams, giving teams like GB, Minnesota, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh the chance to compete.

He took a lot of stick during that miserable stretch of 15 years or so when the club were a laughingstock. Aeroplanes flying over the stadium during games with banners which read "15 years of lousy football, we've had enough". The biggest gripe was how cheap the Maras were at that time which may or may not have been true. Still, that guy was involved in the club for 80 odd years and a key figure in the NFL being what it is today.

Sometimes I wonder about Giants fans. I know they're loyal but that stadium has about as much atmosphere as a library much of the time. There were lots of no-shows on Sunday against Denver and it was startling at how many fans headed for the exits midway through the 4th quarter. My friend was at that game and couldn't believe it when everyone around him split. Best fans in the NFL? No sir, not by a longshot.

Agree with all that.  The old days were noisier, too many people sharing tickets, never been a chanting crowd.  Too suburban now.  Big Jersey & CT following, older, more upscale, less NYC crowd than the Jets.

You're going to Lambeau the last week of the season?  If so that might be an even better occasion because it could be the last time Favre ever plays at home.

yes sir, kinda hoping it is and kinda hoping its not ya know?

Looking more and more likely to be his last career game ever and if so it will certainly be something special...

But then again, and I'm being quite serious, the NFL will definitely lose something when he goes...

Giants now in 1st place in the NFC East at 5-2 after that 36-0 thrashing of the Skins...

NFL results today:

Dallas 34, Arizona 13 (matter of fact win for Dallas)
Chicago 19, Detroit 13, OT (Chicago on top of the horrible NFC Central)
Houston 19, Cleveland 16 (Houston's first win)
Cincinnati 21, Green Bay 14 (Favre 5 INT's)
St. Louis 24, Jacksonville 21 (atrocious loss for the Jags against a weak St. Louis team)
Carolina 38, Minnesota 13 (Panthers an NFC frontrunner for sure; Vikings competing with Pack Texans, and Niners for #1 pick in the draft)
Oakland 34, Tennessee 25 (Oakland bouncing back after rough start)
San Diego 28, Kansas City 20 (Chargers still in the AFC West hunt)
Miami 21, New Orleans 6 (Saban getting every ounce of ability out of a poor Dolphins team)
Denver 49, Philadelphia 21 (An old-fashioned physical beatdown by the Broncos)
San Francisco 15, Tampa Bay 10 (Tampa Bay coming back to earth after brutal loss to the Niners)

He did everything he could, but that wasn't one of his better outings...Favre only threw 1 TD pass; the other was a Fisher rushing TD.
