I remember awe-inspiring Anfield nights not only European but most league games............
Flicked over to Gala v Arse - brilliant atmosphere from home fans even though getting beat 3 - 0. !!!
That's what is required for next 30 + minutes. !!!!   and remainder of season.
Truth - 12.09.2012.

If you had to watch this shite every week you'd find it hard to get yourself up for it. It's not easy when you know the players aren't good enough and you're not gonna be creating any chances in the 90 minutes. Everybody is totally deflated before the game kicks off and it's not gonna change with this squad unless we get a top striker in at least.

Disappointing tonight. I thought we would be playing a cauldron a fire, but the fans seemed a little tired from the journey perhaps. Ah well, I think it will be better for next game.

To be fair the crowd were up for it at the start , but we don't need the opposition to quieten the crowd at the moment , our own team does it for them .

Looks like the transition into the Arsenal crowd is complete. The game has gone to shite, the wrong people are sitting in the stands and the right people are watching from the pubs and sofas.

Best way to improve the atmosphere would be to enlarge the away end. Basel sang us to pieces tonight. Very poor from the home section.

Unfortunately us who have been in the stands for some of Liverpool's notable turnarounds, couldn't do it tonight.
Some fan's sang, some didn't.
If the Kop was brick full of screaming scousers, would we have won tonight? I think not. Bit more noise - maybe yes.

Why do people who don't go the match feel they can lecture those who do?
Regular match goer's can tell stories, and I must admit I hate reading the pokeing of fun at the OTT, OTC, day tripper etc.. attending Anfield.

Was in the back if the kop tonight, sounded alright up there but could tell it wasn't filtering down to the rest of the stand.

Had my wallet stolen by some lads in the back row, stewards said all I could do was report it to the club. Cheers lads I've got your seat numbers.

But we played crap first half. The Kop hasn't always supported the team without criticism. there's always been a murmur about a mis-placed pass, a tackle not won. We see and respond to how they play, while still giving support.

Was very very quiet tonight. Surprised me, I expected a huge atmosphere. I was in the MS, so difficult to sing when everyone around you is sat down and not joining in. And too difficult to get a ticket in the KOP. The only way around it IMO is a singing section. Or putting the young lads/blokes who wanna make a racket in the kop and let them get their voices together. Obviously both are very difficult due to people having certain seats for a numbers of years and not wanting to give them up etc.

The atmosphere was good at the start, the fans played their part but the team didn't give us anything to sing about, was there even a shot in the first half? The introduction of Markovic and Moreno livened up the second half, I thought Markovic looked excellent; taking people on and actually running with the ball as well as making runs off it. Then his sending off upped the crowd again and Stevies goal was just mental.

The Anfield crowd is generally reactive. They need to see something on the pitch and will respond to that. Olympiakos was nothing special until we turned the game around second half. Contrast the atmosphere last season to this season.

There's several reasons behind the poor atmosphere last night. The fact we've been shit in near enough every game since August playing dire football; the knowledge that we'd be be pretty much out next round even if we did get through (that Madrid first half knocked the stuffing out of players and crowd for the CL); the dreadful slow-paced performance from everyone from the first whistle to Gerrard's free kick; the cost of the tickets from the club pricing out a lot of the hardcore. Also you get the hype of "big European night at Anfield" but it doesn't happen by magic. People turn up expecting it without making it happen.

I had two fellas sat to my right in the Kop (block 206, row 57) last night who were an absolute waste of time. All they did was bitch and moan and criticise every single thing, throughout the entire duration of the match. Not once did they join in with a song, or a cheer, or an applause - nothing. I don't even recall them celebrating Stevie's goal, i'm not even kidding. They were a personification of the need from some to justify their negative opinions at this point in time. I actually think they would've been disappointed to see us do well, because, well, it means a fews days with nothing to criticise.

I was fucking livid sitting next to the pair of them. I just can't wrap my head around why you'd even bother going if that's your mindset. For me, you go to the game to 'support' the team. To attempt to impact the performance of the players - and perhaps by extension, the result - in any miniscule way possible. And all we can really do on that front is back anyone on that field with a Liverbird on their chest, for the entire duration of the game. Not just when it's going well, or if you can be bothered - all of it. Make your voices heard - in the right way. And that's most certainly not to scream and bawl at our own players, which is going to achieve nothing other than potentially affecting their performance in a negative manner (and vice versa for the opposition). I was upset with the teams performance overall last night, but I didn't air that frustration during the match itself. That's for after. In the pub, or the car on the way back. Not at the game. That's where you support, unconditionally. Un-con-ditionally.

The whole mentality of; "i've paid my money so I can do what I like" is entirely alien to me, and really very sad indeed. And yet it seems to be becoming commonplace. Far too many people really have lost sight of the definition of the word 'supporter'. They claim to be one, but in reality they genuinely don't know the meaning of the word.

Unfortunately, it's a common reflection of your average football fan. It's cool to bitch and moan about decisions, team selection, bad performances etc. I think loads of Reds think it's just isolated to us, Arsenal etc. but it's happening all over the country (and probably in Europe as well).
