2018-19 League fixtures release date
« on: May 27, 2018, 02:50:42 am »
Time to look ahead..

Fans should make a note in their diaries for 09:00 BST on Thursday 14 June.

That is when the fixtures for the 2018/19 season will be released.

The dates for all 380 Premier League matches will be published on premierleague.com, allowing supporters to start making plans. [My Edit: until TV have their say and screw them up..lol]

The 2018/19 season will begin on 11 August.

Feels like we're never home first, must've been about 3-4 times in the last 15 years or so

Get to play the midtable clubs at the end who have nothing to play for.

Can't wait to be back at Anfield. Hop we're home first match especially with our recent record at home, we shouldn't be looking to lose there again next season.

Hopefully there's a bit of a buzz after a great journey this season, if the fans and players both turn up next season there'll be dreams and songs to sing, and a trophy come May

LFC v West Ham opening day... ;D

Man City v Everton... :P

Normally at this time of year we are all suffering from post Premier League blues, yearning for the return of league football. Thankfully this summer we have a World Cup to look forward to, but the curiosity remains.

The fixtures for next season's Premier League season were set to be unveiled on June 14th, the same day the World Cup starts, but a leaked document has revealed the opening day fixtures.

If this list is correct, Manchester United will travel to the south coast on the opening weekend to play Southampton, while Tottenham Hotspur will have to make the trip up to Burnley.

There are no local derbies, but Crystal Palace will have the opportunity to get their revenge on Huddersfield, who beat the Eagles 3-0 at Selhurst Park on the last day of last season.

Man City at home please.

They have a poor record against us, especially at Anfield (where they haven't won for 16 years), so a win at home against them on the first day of the season would be a great way to begin our title challenge!

West Ham at home would be good start for us despite them being a bit of a bogey team in recent times. It's unlikely, due to World Cup participation, to have all our front 3 available and ready to start.

Everton away to City would be an ideal 1st fixture for us. One of both will have to drop points straight off the bat.

I'd like to see United, Spurs and Chelsea go away to the likes of Southampton, Burnley and Wolves if possible. Give them a tricky fixture away to navigate as the 1st game of the season

I don't know, there's almost a month between the final and the start of the season, I doubt either Senegal or Egypt will get there so it would only be Firmino if Brazil get to the final.

I don't know, there's almost a month between the final and the start of the season, I doubt either Senegal or Egypt will get there so it would only be Firmino if Brazil get to the final.

I think Klopp will want to give the players 3 to 4 weeks off after the World Cup. Then they'd start pre-season. If all teams with our players go out in the group stage then I think they'll be ready for pre-season in mid to late July. Probably gives them 2-3 weeks for pre-season and a few friendlies. In that scenario, I think you could see a player be up to speed come August 11th.

If any players get to the latter stages then I think it becomes a doubt. All the players would be back in training by the time the season started but I'm not sure how many will have had enough of a pre-season under their belt to start regularly. I suspect will see a gradual introduction of the World Cup players as the early part of the season progresses. Think there'll be a reasonable amount of rotation  and starts on the bench until the season gets into early to mid September.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Newly promoted side away first please. Beat them now than at end of the season where fixture congestion and them desperately fighting for survival causes issues.

Would the best order be:

Bottom Teams
Top Teams
Midtable Teams

Get to play the midtable clubs at the end who have nothing to play for.

surely:

Top teams
Bottom teams
Midtable teams

Top teams generally have a few new faces in the starting 11, who most likely would have gone to the WC and not done much pre-season (unlike nearly our entire defence and MF). Last years title winners may be feeling a little overconfident, or lacking motivation to go again.

Bottom teams usually start with hope and run their socks off. This gradually collapses as they realise they're in for a relegation dogfight around November/December, and they really struggle during the Christmas log-jam with a small, tired squad.

Midtable teams at the end as they have nothing to play for.

I can't decide if I want Arsenal or Chelsea at home for the opening game. Both *could* be a complete shambles (although I have a sneaking suspicion Le Arse will have a misplaced renewed sense of purpose for about 2 months). The Ev or West Ham could also be laughable. I'd love to finish the season with Bournemouth, Brighton, Southampton, and Everton, who I think will all be safe, but fairly straight-forward opponents. Winning the title at Goodison?  :o

I think the newly promoted teams are a pain in the arse for the first few weeks, its like a cup final for them just being there and Fulham and Wolves are also decent teams. We learned from Everton last year how a bad start can de-rail you (admittedly they were shit as well) so I would want to take on the sides who just survived, their confidence is low and their enthusiasm has peaked.

Southampton, Huddersfield, Watford, Bournemouth, West Ham and Brighton (and Chelsea/Leicester) for me, home game first

Could do with the top team games being kept away from CL weeks, especially Knock out stages

So true.

Also, best to play them before they sack their manager and get a renewed self-belief. Last year we seemed to always end up playing teams the game after they got their new manager. In the season Rodgers finished 2nd we were the team that put the final nail in the coffin for about 4 managers weren't we?

Yep.. They only played at home during the same round of fixtures once last season, and that was because of West Ham not being able to play at home early on.

Totally agree.

I think, apart from an away game at a top six side, away to Cardiff would be the worst start.

If that leak is true then home to W Ham is a good start.
