I was in Cuba in 2008 and saw lots of Liverpool shirts over there. We stayed in Varadero and saw a few locals getting the bus wearing LFC tops. In Havana there were more on show and when we did a coach trip to Santa Clara, Cienfuegos and Trinidad we also saw Cubans wearing LFC tops. I've no idea how they got hold of them over there, and their most popular sport is actually baseball rather than football, but our shirts were popular. I also saw a few red manc shirts, but not as many as Liverpool's. I took a still pristine 1998-2000 Liverpool home shirt over and gave it to a local Cuban tour rep. Maybe this is how they get hold of them over there. Via tourists bringing them in?
This has just reminded me of just how popular and known LFC are. I remember walking down a side street in Zakynthos Town in the Greek Isles and seeing a really big ''Liverpool FC'' sprayed on a wall in red paint. Also, just wearing LFC shorts in Mexico and Turkey has seen me get a rendition of YNWA from locals.
Just remembered. We got the ferry over from Cozumel to the Mexican mainland and there were a group of Mexicans playing football on the beach. One guy was wearing a yellow Liverpool away top.
