Used to like Titi, was touching when he scored and was crying. Think it was either the same day or a few days earlier his Dad had died?

I believe he's with Al-Sailiyah from what I can Google (sounds Arabic?)- no other info sorry. He's planning to retire from international football, if he hasn't already done so

Yeah he's at Al-Ittihad, http://www.footballtransfers.info/squads/playerprofile.asp?playerID=1722.

It's the same league in which Batistuta and Desailly are now playing, I believe.

No idea what happened to Titi but I remember GH saying at the time something along the lines of "if we don't sign him Arsenal will".

Two months later Arsenal signed Thierry Henry. Actually I think GH said that more than once regarding his French signings.

Wegner must have a little laugh to himself at the duds he put GH onto.

A little harsh. Wenger defintely wanted Le Tallec and Pongolle. The trouble GH had was that Wenger had already made Arsenal champions (in 1998) and most top French players wanted to play in London. So Arsenal was a more attractive proposition to these players. Let's also not forget that Lyon, French Champions, were prepared to pay £6m for Cheyrou when Santini was their boss, but he insisted on coming to Liverpool. GH made a lot of mistakes, but your take in things is a little askew.

Titi was a good lil player, he scored some good goals (one at Highbury against the Arse) didnt cost much, and helped us out when both Fowler & Owen were having massive injury problems.

Once Heskey came and he was pushed doen the pecking order he didnt like it and went to west ham and promptly dissapeared

He served his purpose when we needed it

As a footnote to that Paul- I read  recently that the staff at Highbury have only seen Wenger lose his urbane, professorial cool once. The occasion? The news that ALT and FSP had been signed by Houllier...apparently he was bloody livid.

I remember when I was watching the African Nations early this year and he, like Lua Lua, Diouf and quite a few of the Nigerian players, were leagues above the rest of the lot there.

A little harsh. Wenger definitely wanted Le Tallec and Pongolle.

Your correct he did and that was a great piece of business by GH. La Tallac was absolutely outstanding in the youth World Cup a couple of years ago. Pongolle finished top scorer although it was La Tallac that really caught the eye.

I was only half serious about the GH and Wenger discussions. Although I wouldn't put it past Wenger.

Lets hope in a few years we are talking about La Tallac - Pongolle and Baros as GH's legacy and not some of his other signings.

However, the good news is Harry Redknapp is back in football. Always ready to pick up some of our underachievers was "old arry" (Berger not included). I have a feeling Harry might just be the fella to take a punt on Diouf if he ends up selling Beattie.

Last seen working in television as Uncle Fester in the Adams Family.

Always thought Titi should have done the light bulb in the mouth celebration when he scored.

Funny story, or at least it was at the time.

Talking to the lads in work about strange stuff on the radio - "that Damien Rice bloke, he doesn't half sound like Tanita Tikaram".

And the bluenose next to me says, having heard half the convo: "didn't he used to play for your lot?"  ;D

Is the new coach of Guinea!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/feedarticle/8549834

CONAKRY, June 9 (Reuters) - Former Liverpool striker Titi Camara has replaced sacked Frenchman Robert Nouzaret as Guinea coach after the team lost to Ivory Coast in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
"We have decided to stop working with Nouzaret after the recent poor results," Guinean Sports Minister Fodeba Isto Keira told Reuters on Tuesday. "We have agreed that he will be paid three months salary rather than 20 months."
Guinea have lost their last two World Cup qualifiers to Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast.
Nouzaret's salary, reported to be around 23,000 euros per month, had already drawn criticism from the head of the military junta that seized power in the impoverished West African nation last December.
"It was becoming too expensive and the team wasn't going anywhere," the minister added. "We have taken this decision for Nouzaret's own security. He no longer got on with the players or the supporters."
Camara, who played for Guinea at the 2004 African Nations Cup, had been technical director. (Reporting by Saliou Samb; Editing by David Lewis and Alan Baldwin; To query or comment on this story email
