Wigan are unbeaten in their last four home matches against Liverpool, registering three draws and a 1-0 win in March 2010.

Jean Beausejour has registered six assists in the top flight this season - the most by a Wigan player in a single Premier League campaign.
Their next league fixtures after playing Liverpool are Manchester City (a), Newcastle (h), Norwich (h), QPR (a).
Ali Al-Habsi will make his 100th Premier League appearance for Wigan, while Emmerson Boyce is poised to reach his century of games for the club.

"You could easily count the number of headed goals Stewart Downing has scored on one hand" informs the commentator. "Very easily if you're from Wigan and have the mandatory extra digit" thinks everyone.

Traveling Kop in full voice, and they have much to sing about, Downing scoring a goal in less then 2 min. Assisted by our new Brazilian.
Steven Gerrard & Suarez' songs reverberating around the DW Stadium already. Game stretched to accommodate the passing style of both teams already.

How good is it to see the return of the Pepe Reina through-ball?

13 - Nice ball from Downing out to Enrique, comes to nothing. Free kick taken quickly by Wigan, who lose possession. Some panic in the Wigan defence, Coutinho tries to play in Gerrard (I think), but it just runs away from him

I had Ł100 on Coutinho setting up Downing for a header within 2 minutes @ 3,500/1.

Please tell fellow rawkites to PM me to claim their free pint. ;)
Pints all round, and the pies are dead cheap in Wigan as two thirds of Britain's Pie Fields are in the Greater Manchester area.

Coutinho keeps finding pockets of space in what we would actually consider the No. 10 role, even though he's starting on the left. he kind of shuffled the ball out of his feet and slotted Suarez in, who took it at pace, and in-stride, faked the shot and slotted past the falling Al-Habsi. Proper goal.

19: Maloney is fouled by Lucas. Free kick to Wigan central about 40 yards out. Bosejour crosses, Agger header isn't great, ball goes back into box and Boyce's volley is excellently saved by Reina.

LIVERPOOL ARE ON TO A LOSER WITH LUIS SUAREZ' FINISHING

Quote
IF Luis Suarez was Emile Heskey he’d be getting slaughtered right now. He’s one of the most unnatural finishers I’ve ever seen.

Suarez is a great talent. He makes chances, but he just can’t finish them. How many did he miss against West Brom? It was incredible.

I thought Liverpool would do big things this year. But unless they sign a proven goalscorer, they’ve got no chance.

Their fans say, ‘We hit the woodwork more than anyone, they’ll start going in’.

But hitting the post is a miss. It’s time to worry if you’re a Liverpool fan. - Paul "Sawarez" Merson

Suarez makes it 2nil and goal number 26 for the season

Pepe Reina leaps cat-like and gets a real strong hand to Boyce's effort. An in-form Pepe Reina is worth his weight in gold, and that's not inconsiderable for a man with an arm-span the length of Cheshire

In amongst all that Emerson Boyce walked over to James McArthur and shoved him in his face mask. Starting your fight with a teammate is stupid; starting a fight with anybody dressed as a superhero is sheer madness. Has Boyce not seen 'Kick-Ass'?!

32' The game is disjointed at the moment, the pitch looks slippery, the sign boards seem to be glitching and a stuffed horse has a jacket on in the stands.

Suarez brought down and he will be taking the free kick, good curl on it, deflected and the ball went in off the post. 0-3 for us.

McArthur spends five minutes using his computer-assisted Batman mask to perfectly place the Wigan wall so there is no chance of a goal, generally annoying everybody in red. Suarez strikes the freekick and Maloney flicks it past a stumbling Al-Habsi- goal.

Providing that goal counts for Luis Suarez, it gives him twenty (20) for the season and puts him ahead of Michael Owen's best ever league tally (19).

36' Agger passes it back and forth a few times, and tries to pass it forward but Wigan come out with the ball and they have a counter on.

Good cross from the left, Santo with a towering header and Pepe with another great save. Corner Wigan but we are able to clear the danger.

Pepe Reina has been magnificent so far, with another great save there. Apart from that Liverpool are winning at a canter, and Joe Allen finds himself in the box, with our pitchside reporter informing us that his nose has indeed stopped bleeding since the lofty heights of his goal against Zenit.
