People making sweeping generalisations about complex political issues are extremely unhelpful.

It is plainly regrettable that Shaqiri is not in the squad for this one, all the more so for the reasons behind the decision. But to blame “Serbians” or “all Serbians” or “most Serbians” in such a sweeping manner does no one any favours and borders on the very same racism that the Serbian people/fans are being accused of.

The situation in the Balkans is very sad indeed and anywhere where nationalism plays such a prominent role in debate is bound to be deeply troubled. But this is first and foremost a football forum. There are carefully moderated threads elsewhere on RAWK which go into these issues in more detail and with more consideration and anyone genuinely interested in the subject would do well to explore it there.

Love the look of joy on Shaqiri's face when he scores. He's looks like a lusty dwarven warrior who just won the Goblin Beheading Cup.  ;D

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

I'd Like to see him as the #10 and Firmino as the 9.

He's quality. We'll no doubt be ravaged during the international break so who knows what we'll have available for Watford but I hope he starts if everyone is fit, no need to be too respectful to the crap in this league. Get out best attacking players out there and twat them.

The only forward that’s constantly on the move and looking for the ball.

I’d have pissed myself if someone said that’d be the case in August.

yep for sure. If one of the two starts, should be Shaq, then you have a nice option of Lallana for 15-20 mins, may build his fitness up a bit that way too. Lallana still has much to offer, just getting up to 100% with all his injury worries is never going to be easy.

At this moment, Shaq is well ahead of Lallana whether it was playing in midfield or front 3.

With Shaq, you can expect something to happen. Lallana is the anti thesis of that. Whilst you can expect Lallana to keep hold of the ball pretty well and move it forward, you don't at this stage of his career expect any spark of brilliance.

He should be starting over Milner let alone Lallana. He's significantly better than any of the other players who take up the more advanced midfield role (Keita excluded).

I just can’t believe we got him for £13m. Daylight robbery to the nth degree.

He’s looking every inch a £70m+ signing.

He made that finish today seem simple when it was a very hard thing to do.

He's giving Klopp a big problem now. He is playing himself onto the first team but I'm not sure that this fits into how our front 3 and midfield play. I saw Saqiri as sort of a maverick who would come in off the bench to do something new and different.

Anyway he has shown that he is good enough to start and at present he's playing as well as any of our other players.

We will have to rotate the front three at some point, so he can come in wide for either Mane or Salah, and in midfield we could still play Fabinho/Henderson Wijnaldum, Keita.

Having a very similar impact that Ox had once he settled.

Always liked Shaqiri, always hated us playing against him so was made up when we signed him.

He can definately be the driving force and creator from midfield we’ve been missing, especially if Naby gets upto speed as well.

Only issue for me would be to drop Wijnaldum if we did see a Shaq, Keita, Fabinho midfield 3.

But now we have a midfield for many occasions. Keita and Shaqiri in there and I am confident we can break down the parked bus.

Wijnaldum and Fabinho give a more tactically astute midfield

If, and it’s a  bit if, he maintains this form and hits anything like the trajectory of a Klopp signing, then we could have some player on our hands.

Looked fantastic so far. Really can’t believe how much energy he has, I was optimistic when we signed him but I thought he’d be Beebatov eaque, he’s been anytbjng but.

He’s got every right to make that role that we thought Fekir would be filling his own.
