To think that I was at Soccer City in Johannesburg for this game and absolutely detested Suarez for months afterwards...........

And now I can't get enough of the boy!!

Personally, I never understood why he was hated for that ! He got a red card for it, so it's all in the rules.

My personal reason was that, like 80,000 others in the stadium that night, I was desperate for Ghana to go through and this denied them the fairytale. Admittedly Gyan had the chance to win it from the spot anyway but couldn't finish it. Luis spent a lot of time that night prancing around and diving/rolling all over the pitch as well which grated on me. Now that you see him up close (well, not literally, but take enormous interest in him) you can tell that what he does is do whatever it takes to win.

I like that.

Did you not notice half the Ghanaian team throwing themselves to the ground at every opportunity against the USA? They cheated the US out of a quarter final place and I was over the moon to see them dumped out the way they were, hopes of a continent or not.

The short answer to that is that no, i did not see that. If I had have, I probably would have had a different opinion on the matter.

As is stood, I had not seen any or Uruguay or Ghana's games up til that point.

Ah well. Justice was done in the end I felt, despite Greek tragedy Peter "BAFANA BAFANA!!!" Drury was desperately trying to peddle.
