I would love the first series to get a re-run on BBC 1 to good to be hidden away on BBC4 even if its done really well on that station.

Opening credits - hayfever sufferers worst nightmare.

The show is a gem - like bbc's best shows it's not on often.

The quickest 30 minutes on TV.

Nice opening episode.

The quickest 30 minutes on TV.

Nice opening episode.

It was great.  Mackenzie Crook has written something special.

I was a bit worried they’d done away with the opening credits in the first few minutes.

Brilliant and the ending was stunning showing you the history of the field.

Just makes you smile and feel warm inside.

It was great wasn't it? and wonderful music from the Unthanks to accompany it.

Just got to ep 1 of the new series last night.

Great to see Tim Key make an appearance and lovely to have it back.

It's the use of tiny jokes that I love about it. Did anyone notice Varda is not heard but gets chided for talking too much?.

Emma Peel, surely

Yeah Emma Peel is the mother of Rachel Stirling. Who is now married to Guy Garvey from Elbow of course.

Absolutely beautiful, so poignant, a perfect ending to a perfect TV show

Imagine what that scene of the rest of the detectorists arriving for the 'festival' would have been like if it was a U.S. show....kill bill or bad boys type music.  This is such an amazing programme and a great final series (not season you hipster meffs)

I loved the lovely bit with Lance carrying the box with Fragile and an arrow pointed up, Was half expecting emma peel to be a secret bidder also but thankfully he didn't go down that route

Partridge is one of the most incredible british comedy creations and the office is a great ensemble piece but this for me is the best in recent years

Such an amazing use of Pathos. I love every character in this.  Its a show that makes me want to be a better person

Wonderful. How many ways to find treasure? Varda finding that ring, Terry getting his book published, Simon and Garfunkel finding friendship and the realisation they have more in common than things that divide, Andy finding a home and his own shed, Lance settling down, Andy and Lance saving the tree... and the gold sitting  in the magpie’s nest was the least important of all.

Loved Sheila’s ‘lemonade’ making an appearance.

Perfect way to end it, what a delight this has been. I feel like episodes of Detectorists should be prescribed to calm people down, it's hypnotically charming.

I love this series so much that I hope that there isn't another series. Do you know what I mean?

The ending was so perfect that I don't want them to undo it and stretch the characters in a different direction.
