When our kid was 16, so would be 1986, he worked in the summer doing catering on Army camps for Mick Jones from the Clash, he spent hours with Jones on the road and when he came home he was heavily into Big Audio Dynamite and The Pogues, Jones was playing both his band and the Pogues contantly in the van. The Pogues were a great band, surprised Shane lived as long as he did to be honest

Denny Laine.RIP. My mum loved this version.

I saw him with Wings at the Royal Court, 1979, I think. A great musician.

Well, this is a bit of a coincidence.   I was only thinking the other day about British Boxers from back in the day and John Conteh came to mind.  I did wonder if he was still with us.  Nice one that he is :)

Never knew about that Album cover either.

As for Denny though. Pretty much a legendary musician to be fair.  RIP.

Sad to hear.

A good man, who worked hard to combat discrimination and racism.

Massive kudos to him for turning down an OBE. When interviewed about it, he said:

"I've been fighting against empire all my life, fighting against slavery and colonialism all my life. I've been writing to connect with people, not to impress governments and monarchy. So how could I then accept an honour that puts the word Empire on to my name? That would be hypocritical."

A Tory, a worker and an immigrant are sat round a table. There's a plate of 10 biscuits in the middle. The Tory takes 9 then turns to the worker and says "that immigrant is trying to steal your biscuit"

Amazing. Think I spotted Michael D Higgins in one of the front rows.

I loved how they kept the original lyrics and if I could anyone sing at my funeral it would have to be Glen Hansard.

Something of a relief to hear that Sinead O'Connor died of natural causes. The thought of her taking her life, alone in London, (as most presumed due to her struggles with mental health) was truly heartbreaking. Hopefully, she just slipped away in her sleep and didn't suffer.

Sad news that.

Used to love her radio 1 show on a Sunday night straight after the top 40 countdown. The music she played was so much better and more varied than the stuff in the charts.

According to Fred Tackett, "We were driving down the New Jersey Turnpike in this bus and we stopped at this pizza joint off the highway. Everybody in the band shared a cheese pizza but Lowell bought a large pizza with everything on it, carried it to the back of the bus, and he ate the entire pizza by himself. He died two or three days later. So, when people ask me, 'What really killed Lowell?' I say, 'It was a pizza on the New Jersey Turnpike.'"
