Tell you what did though:

Really liking this album. Almost like post-rock with banjoes?!

Yeah its great, simple yet engrossing.

Really surprised me, I didn't really know what to expect when I downloaded it. Another goodie from Paradise of Bachelors.

I have started developing a visceral distaste for the term 'dad-rock' -- as if we should all worship at the altar of youth forever and nobody is allowed to like anything that a 21 year old won't like. Fuck that.

Always liked Vic and Bob calling Slade 'Sla-day'

Think Sad(e) rock covers suitable relaxing CD car music driving back from Family day out in North Wales with kids asleep in back and moment to chill with those Sade infused bearded troubedour tunes

That is my jam...'Getting lost on B roads in North Wales'...the new album from SATRA Sounds...to follow my debut entitled 'Arguments in Aberystwyth'. Expect some chilled out soft-rock, with a splattering of pedal steel, tasteful drums, and nothing too noisy...,maybe some fuzz guitar but really far back in the mix...traces of ambient soundscapes scraped off Brian Eno's cutting room floor...and 'deep' lyrics with inscrutable narratives.

well, I know what I'm doing with my weekend now. Holing up in my spare room with my 8 track and making this dream a realityOccupying the kids and eating too much.

Sounds like a rip off from Jason Durandos early stuff 'Diamond Geezer life'  and the double concept lp ' Sunday lost in North Wales....get the map out'

My dad listens to Motown, Buddy Holly, 60s girl groups and the Beatles rather than Dire Straights, Dylan and Springsteen so I can't call WOD dad-rock.

Younger uncle rock maybe?

Also, as much as FJM is an arsehole, his album this year will be in my top 10  ;D.

Tried to get into some of the stuff that I might get into based on my taste, but Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy, Let's Eat Grandma, Hop Along came and went and didn't impress and the new Mitski I didn't rate.

Are there any 2018 gems out there hiding?

Was so good on Friday night. New album sounds lovely. Shoegazey with some nice cello.

Anyone else being completed floored by the new Cloud Nothings record? Smoking hot. Randall Dunn produced it and, like always, he's added new vigour that was lost on their last one.
