Ferguson has been doing this sort of stuff for 20 years, even when he hasn't got a valid point as it is with this case.

Well first of all, he HASN'T got a valid point has he? The fixtures have worked against them in the first half of the season.  Like they did against us a couple of years ago, as stated.  Its tough shit, we all have to deal with it.

Second, he insinuates foul play which is part of his expected poisonous slurs that we have all come to expect, but surely you have to admit..... this puts the game into 'disrepute'? As he is questioning the integrity of the game's authorities? Surely you can also see why this winds people up? Even if your fans love it.

Finally, its the sheer volume of this shite he comes out with which amazes me.  In a fair world he would be bankrupt having lost all his money in the courts for slander and libel.
He's a manipulative bastard. Another deliberate attempt to put pressure on people in the game, which he thinks he'll get away with because of his "standing" in the game and his fucking knighthood.

Something tells me ginsoak isn't going to be happy, I can't see tevez sticking around, wish we had some money to spend....

Quote
Manchester United ace Carlos Tevez has risked the wrath of Mr. Ferguson by reacting to the manager's comments over his contract situation.

On Sunday Tevez, 24, revealed his disappointment at speculation that he had rejected a new offer from the Premier League champions, and on Monday he reiterated his desire for his future to be sorted.

"I didn't like him (Ferguson) saying I didn't like the offer I was made because neither my agent nor me were given one," the Argentina international, whose deal runs out in the summer, told Radio del Plata.

"I don't know anything on my future. United know what they must pay if they want me to stay.

"I want to stay but the club have not made any offer. I've been waiting for them for a year and a half."

The ongoing saga has prompted reports that Tevez, who joined United from West Ham in 2007, is a target of Real Madrid, and the forward added: "If I have to quit the club, I want to quit on good terms."

"Now all clubs are on an equal footing. If a club comes to me and offers me a five-year deal, I will accept it for peace of mind.

"I will sign my last contract, and then I figure that I'll go back to Boca (Juniors.) That could be in four or five years."

"I want everybody to know no offer has been made. I don't like that they are playing with our fans, who show their love to me in each match."

Gogetta, not sure if it was you, but weren't you downplaying the Super Cup after you lot lost it this season? The World Club Championship is similar in that it's not that important (obviously nice to win it) and I'm sure you wouldn't care that much if you hadn't won it. You do seem to mention it in a lot of your posts.

Also, we all know Ferguson has been doing it for years, and getting away with it.

It's more than 'nice' to be known as the champions of the world, certainly the more prestigious of the tournaments you have to enter on the back of a european cup win. I've only really mentioned it recently as it's been directly connected to recent events.

More world cups than England.

Well first of all, he HASN'T got a valid point has he? The fixtures have worked against them in the first half of the season.  Like they did against us a couple of years ago, as stated.  Its tough shit, we all have to deal with it.

I know Stu, that's why I said in this case he didn't have a valid point.

Ferguson has never said anything about Tevez rejecting an offer, all he said on his press conference on Friday was that the situation hadn't changed yet.

There is an absolute obsession in the press with connecting United players to a departure. It was agreed 2 years ago he would stay at loan for 2 years and then they'd look at the possibility of making it permanent.

He's played a big part in winning the league and european cup, so why not just buy him now you say? Well, it takes £20m or so to make it permanent given United have already paid £10m in loan fees for the lad and that is a combined £30m , which is a lot of money, for what it's worth I think they'll sign him but you can understand why they're not jumping straight in or want to try and get him cheaper.

How will you get him cheaper? If you don't take him for the £32 million, it will be on to the next club willing to pay that.

In the current financial climate, it wouldn't be a surprise if they're trying to bargain, The player has made it clear who he wants to sign for permanently, something could be worked out.

Doesnt matter one jot if his first choice is United. His first choice is whoever will pay the £32 million. And other teams will pay that. So if United dont pay £32 million, he wont stay. Its really that simple.

Ferguson has raised the stakes in the title race by questioning whether Liverpool will be able to handle the pressure as Rafael Benítez’s players venture into unfamiliar territory.

United trail Liverpool, the Premier League leaders, by seven points, albeit with two games in hand, but Ferguson believes that the Merseyside club’s recent lack of experience of title chases could prove their undoing.

Liverpool previously won the league championship in 1990 while United are hoping to retain the title for the second successive season, but that has not prevented Ferguson from starting the mind games.

“There’s no doubt that in the second half of the season they [Liverpool] will get nervous,” the United manager told Inside United magazine. “They’re going into the unknown and if you make mistakes, you get punished.”

That's what annoys me - there are many reasons why we might not win the league as has been discussed over and over on here but you can be sure that if United win it then the press will claim that 'mind games' will have been a big factor.

Hmm.

But you've got to begin winning the League sometime, with an unexperienced team or not. Rafa had brought the title to Valencia with a team with little experience in winning La Liga for the first time in 30 years. Ferguson himself won it in the 92/93 season after 25 years since they last won the League title.

Sure, there's every chance we could blow it, but so could they and so could Chelsea.

The mindgames have begun.

someone kindly post this in boys' locker room:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11667_4753717,00.html

Mr. Ferguson hopes Liverpool's lack of title-winning experience in recent years will hinder them this season.

The Manchester United boss has led his side to back-to-back Premier League crowns in the last two years, an achievement which has taken his impressive haul to 10 in total.

The Scot believes regularly challenging for silverware will put his side in good stead once again this term, with the Red Devils currently looking to bridge the seven-point gap which separates them from league leaders Liverpool.

With two games in hand that deficit could be cut to just a solitary point, and Ferguson believes nerves could then start to get the better of their Anfield rivals.

"There's no doubt that in the second half of the season they will get nervous," he said.

"With the experience we've got, having won a couple of titles in the past couple of years especially, it helps you. There's no doubt about that.

"They're going into the unknown, and if you make mistakes, then you are punished."

Liverpool have not taken the title since 1990 and would see United equal their record of 18 top-flight crowns should they surrender their lead at the summit this season.

Ha ha....Soft shites ' mind games' really amuse me.

I mean does he really think they'll have any bearing on the outcome of anything, same with the usual ' pin it to the wall ' reply shit.

If we win every game from now until the end of the season, it'll have fuck all to do with responding to piss heads mind games, the same goes if we lost every game.

Shankly was the master of this kind of stuff, but it was all a bit of fun, and still is. Anyone ( especially opposition footballers who it's aimed at ) who take this bullshit seriously need to grow some bollocks and just laugh it off.

Most football managers are too thick to try real mind games, those that do are deluded, pretentious fuck wits or just very desperate men.

What makes me laugh is the tower arrogance that if we don't win it then Manchester United will.

They've completely written Chelsea off - even though a win at Salford Super 'Specials' would enable them to pull further ahead.

Laughable. There is everything left to play for in the League.

And a win against Stoke would be good news for us.

They both went in high, that's factually correct, both tried to play the ball at height.  Doku with his foot, Mac Allister with his chest.

"There's no doubt that in the second half of the season they will get nervous," he said.

"With the experience we've got, having won a couple of titles in the past couple of years especially, it helps you. There's no doubt about that.

"They're going into the unknown, and if you make mistakes, then you are punished."

Those are the quotes. Seem like reasonable statements.

I'm sure you will get nervous as the race hots up as would any team, point is not to crack.
Knowing what it takes to win the league is good for players imo.
This current Liverpool team hasn't really fought for the title late into the season before so it is an unknown for most of the players, and mistakes will likely be punished as the table looks tight this year.

If you're still top in March, then I'm sure he'll give you some quotes worth analysing.

Hmmmmm, what will he say, lemme guess.......

If we're still top in March I think he'll be a spluttering incontinent wreck, so we'll have to send his quotes to a geriatric psychiatrist to analyse and decipher.

He's just stating the obvious really, if one side slips up others will capitalise on it, which applies to his team as much as it applies to ours, which he does not mention, of course. We always have a strong second half season under Rafa.
"My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Napoleon had that idea. He wanted to conquer the bloody world. I wanted Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in."

His quotes seem to be suggesting that Utd will actually be in the title race later on. They're the ones seven points down, not us. He's the one that's showing his nervousness now, not us.

Serious question, is that true in the league?
Be interesting to see the difference in points earned between the first and second half of the season during Benitez' time at Liverpool.
