Said when this competition came in, it's basically a free shot at a trophy for Everton if they finish 7th. Thankfully they're well away from 7th at the moment but a club like Brighton in with a chance of a European trophy next season is crazy. To be fair to West Ham they were close to winning the Europa League last season.

They absolutely blew that last season. Frankfurt weren't a far better side at all (11th in the Bundesliga last season) but West Ham shit themselves in the semi. Would likely have beaten Rangers in the final. Would have been a genuinely brilliant moment for them to win a European competition with meaning, this is just a joke though. Funny that Spurs went out of it last season in the group stage but every English team that enters this is playing at a massive advantage.

Wow that’s unexpected. Basel have been the lowest-ranked team in this competition by a mile, for several rounds now.

If they get Basle in the final that's a joke of a run to a European trophy. Basle haven't won the league in a while and 25 points off the top this season.

The likes of Lazio, Villareal, Nice and Fiorentina if they go out they'd have avoided.

The Frankfurt tie was typical Moyes. Even Leicester under Rodgers (who genuinely hasn't got a clue in Europe) reached the semis last season but Mourinho had the know-how for Roma.

Any credible opponent West Ham have managed to avoid playing in every round.

Ideally they make the final and lose. Preferably via needing an enormous effort in the next leg - so they're knackered against Leeds on the weekend - then players going into that Leicester away game half-arsed and just wanting to avoid any injuries.

If a plucky West Ham run can yield points for Everton's relegation rivals then I'm all aboard.

Red would've been harsh since they were both going for the ball and there was no major injury... Or maybe what Pickford did to Virgil and got away scotch free has changed my view of what constitutes a red-card offence... or just what's likely to get a red card... I don't know.

Still traumatised by that incident, obviously. We never truly recovered from that moment... It's a constant reminder that the English media, the Premier League and its referees, the government and now UEFA are all anti-Liverpool.

YESSSSSS OMFG. On top of having a nightmare of a domestic season, in the Conference League we've had our back to the wall in every single round (we barely made it in after playing all three qualifying rounds). But somehow our international experience keeps pushing us through.

Born and raised (to an English father) in Basel and still living there today 

We've been hopeless in the league for years, mate, no consistency whatsoever.

Internationally, it definitely helped that we've been the underdog in every fixture. These days, we're better if we don't have to make the game and can sit back.

It hurts to say, but BSC Young Boys are today what we used to be ten years ago: a superbly run club off the pitch and a well oiled machine on it. Domestically, no one comes close to them.

Internationally though, it's only us who've been achieving results consistently. If we make the final, it would go down in our history books as our single greatest achievement.
