We might have different definitions here, but who has her beat in ring and levels her on the mic?

But, even if I agreed with that, the star power is aspect is important. Because she isn't going to Tony Khan grateful.for the opportunity, she knows what she needs to do to get ahead. An Athena is fantastic but she might not fight her corner like the old Sasha Banks can.

That is what I mean more than in ring.

Yeah I think we're probably saying the same thing, but I think she's always been a little overrated in-ring and very sus on the stick.  I would put Hayter, Shida, Riho, Storm and Statlander above her for in-ring ability and think Storm with this Timeless stuff has shown she's easily better with promo work.

She's a positive for AEW, more eyes on the women, more reason to book the women properly, and she absolutely adds more star power.

Wrestling is very much an opinions based world and I can only say, on this, we are poles apart.

And, I envy you that, cos you'll enjoy the division more that I do currently. Let's hope we both have something to smile about soon ☺

Well, I hope so, but the WCW Cruiserweight division was revolutionary. I just don't see a women's division in AEW reaching that, given the high bar they would need to clear (because WWE have already reached for the star with theirs) and an owner whose words haven't matched his actions with it.

We'll see, Mercedes can change the game.

I don't think they'll match the division because frankly it was the best division in ring wise ever perhaps. But perhaps they can become the equivalent role - exciting and different show stealing middle acts.

I does take Tony actually following through, or at least handing the wheel over and giving them time and space to do whatever, but I think the tools are there

Question separate from anything, but what's the hardest you've ever been worked by something in wrestling?

I remember as a young lad of 6 or 7 I was so so angry at how William Regal used the brass knuckles to cheat, that I planned to write a letter to Sky Sports demanding that he gets told to stop  ;D

A friend in school told me he was cousins of Edge and Christian and that he visited them in the summer. I believed him for a good couple of years (pretty sure I wrote a letter for them that he said he'd give to them) until I had internet access and found out they weren't actually brothers.

Internet killed kayfabe.

It has been a sensational return. It has come at a time that he is needed wrestling maybe a little more than he did before and he has brung it.

Just hope it doesn't end with the crowd turning on Cody or something less than a squeaky clean win. Rock has rejuvenated the Bloodline just as it is time to hit the killswitch on it

Brilliant match, Danielson’s collarbone after was grotesque.

Bit crazy that it was an opening match to the secondary show with no build but with both guys medical history, just grateful that we got to see it.

Is there an argument that Tony Khan isn’t using Danielson right? I think Danielson is doing exactly what he wants to be doing, but is that the best thing for AEW? Feels he has MOTY contenders on a bi-weekly basis but I’d argue they’re under utilising him. I know he doesn’t want the belt, but he’s maybe the biggest star they have…and in WWE had genuine crossover appeal. Isn’t there an opportunity to do more with that and get increased ratings as a result?

He doesn't want the belt and is retiring in 5 months so I would say they are doing the best they should be doing and that's having him put over Ospreay in a big way.

I think he should win a belt after that, properly International, and drop it in his final match to someone like Jay White or a heel like that, who can then brag about ending Danielson's career

I think if Christian Cage was somehow involved in retiring the Clamdigger then McGuiness would literally explode at ringside.

There is a strong argument that Tony Khan just lets wrestlers, largely, do what they like. I love Danielson, think he's a good deed in a bad world and probably my choice for best ever in ring, but I do agree they could use him better to make the company better in the long run.

But, they prized him over with the promise of wrestling the way he wants, he has done so, left everyone in the dust. Legend.

Such a minor thing but WWE is trying to get crowd signs going again... always loved that in Attitude Era.

The production in general has improved since Dunn. Some cool camera stuff - like tracking Zayn going from the arena to backstage, then transitioning to following Miz and Truth going through gorilla out to the crowd. Feels much more dynamic.

Presentation has been a 10/10 the past few weeks. Even Smackdown last week, the Rock's entrance is one of the best I can recall in recent times.

Caught some of RAW, very promo heavy. Looks great on TV but I don't know how anyone could sit through that live for 3 hours. Yet they keep packing out arenas.

That's Heyman's style. Smackdown 2002 has a similar shot going through the "living" backstage with a tracking shot of Brock.

It was absolutely brilliant. Good in ring action and two VERY good promos

I’m sure people will find a reason to critic  either WWE or AEW but wrestling is booming right now. WWE is the best it’s been in a long ass time. Two very good viable options depending on what you’re in to

Also, side note very pleased to see Will Ospreay doing well. Used to train at my gym for a bit and have exchanged ‘spotting’ on a few occasions.

Teasing Cena and Austin at the end too. Said it before but think the main event is going to be one of the most overbooked endings to a pro wrestling match ever. And I’m here for it. It’s going to be Cody summoning ‘the Avengers’ to take down the Bloodline. Seth, Jey, Sami, Cena, Austin…

that shot when the rock's music hits and hes walking out and its shot from behind Cody's back was just perfect

Totally epic that. Reminded me of one of Kane's comebacks in the Attitude era, when Paul Bearer walks out and the action in the ring is still ongoing.

Also, give Drew the belt already.

While I agree, this sounds like a weird complaint but The Rock has been too good, in that Roman doesn't look as impressive

I don't think that's a weird complaint at all; I agree with you totally. I think that beatdown should have been Roman Reigns's to give, not only because that is the actual match, but also because he would have done it more heelishly.

Roman has looked good by being very aloof during this run. He has been relatively calm and then he explodes. The Rock has done the explosion here and there is a fair bet that Roman is 4th or 5th most impressive in this whole buildup. Rock has, with more freedom, levelled everyone for star quality, Rhodes has continued to look like a star and the kind of man you can use to carry the company at times, Rollins has bent over backwards to make multiple leaps of logic work where I'm not sure anyone else could, and Mcintyre has been a revelation (I'm not sure why I say this because he has largely made everything work since his return, but he's been next level lately).

Reigns has looked relatively lethargic by comparison with not quite enough time to really play at a Rock and Roman relationship tension only hinted at.

And I am still all in for Rhodes vs Reigns, but I can't help but think this has stumbled slightly in, what I hope, is the final inning of Roman's reign.

Cos by god I want Rhodes to win, but I want him to absolutely murder The Rock more. And I'm not sure that's the right balance.
