Great point... clearly its better to play more based on us not doing a goal in a match. Thinking about it I remember Jurgen's many interviews asking for more fixtures to improve performance levels
It was a genuine question.
I can think of numerous examples where we've had fairly substantial rest periods and there's been a signifcant dip in performances, the January/February period in 2019 springs to mind.
Obviously there comes a point where too many matches has a detrimental effect, but I'm not sure we're at that point currenrly, especially as the vast majority didn't play midweek last week. If we were away to, for example, Salzburg needing a point to qualify for the last 16 of the CL, I'm not sure you'd be making the same argument, I suspect it would be seen as a necessary match and something we need to find a way through to be successful.
Worth remembering that after the Arsenal game we have a tight turnaround to Burnley away, followed by 5 days rest until the Newcastle game with then another 6 days before Arsenal away in the FA Cup when you'd again expect significant rotation.
I take the point that too many matches can affect performances, I'm just not sure I agree with what you seem to be saying that a midweek rest means we're far more likely to play well the following match as I would argue there's a fair bit of evidence to the contrary.
