I've not been to any concerts at the ground, but surely there are a fleet of shuttle buses from town to the ground and back for such events?

Don't think so...I've seen hundreds of people walking back to Town after a gig, quite an odd sight really!

I'm surprised by that. I assume most people who go to these shows come from all over the country. Thousands probably staying in the city centre or at least visiting it before heading to the ground for the show. I'd have thought shuttle buses would be a no-brainer given that the regular transport is so poor.

Pretty sure they run the same extra bus services they'd run on a match day.
Still can sometimes be easier and less hassle walking back into town though.

Wonder if it depends on what time the gig ends, is their a cut off time?  I think it was after the Stones gig, I saw a long long procession of fans walking into Town. After the Elton John show (which I think finished earlier) I hardly saw anyone on foot heading the same way.

It'll be interesting to see what singers or bands are announced to play Anfield for next summer.

I'd love it to be Bruce Springsteen.
Will they actually host any next season considering the ARE is due for completion before the start of the season

No Anfield at Euro 2028 bid.

We were never under consideration with our pitch being too small, same as Stamford Bridge. Sorry, I can't open that link, is Everton's new Stadium part of the bid...cheers.

The ten stadiums still in contention are: Wembley, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the London Stadium, Villa Park, Stadium MK, Old Trafford, the Etihad, Everton’s planned Bramley Moore Dock ground, Sunderland’s Stadium of Light and Newcastle United’s St James’ Park. Others, such as Southampton’s St Mary’s, could still qualify for the list"
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

Ta..I hope EFC do host some games, great for the City and all that, but I'm still not convinced about their site, just looks too compact.

As for us losing out, I think it's been discussed on here whether extending the pitch is a feasible option at Anfield, but can't remember how the topic went.

Don't think they could choose Everton for the final list at least until it's completed and they've had plenty of games there to see how the site deals with a 50k crowd and a high profile football match. The ground won't be built until after the hosts are decided next year.

I'm no fan of Pink but I just saw this footage of her Anfield show and it's pretty spectacular.

No way would you catch me flying around on a wire like that.  :o

Should have got Charlie Adam to do that while he was playing with us, just to make himself useful.

Yes they do. For last year’s Elton John gig, we caught the shuttle from next to St George’s Hall and then caught the return bus back into town from the bottom of Walton Breck Road. The return queues were ridiculous and I would expect them to have that sorted by now.

Some stuff from Billy Hogan:

It has been a lucrative summer for Liverpool, with Taylor Swift playing three sellout concerts at Anfield. Fellow American singer Pink also played two dates. “It went unbelievably well,” Hogan says. “Turning what I’d say is the best football venue in the world into one of the best concert venues in the world involved a lot of hard work at the end of a long season.

“Having Taylor Swift followed by Pink — five fantastic events — over 250,000 people came through the doors of Anfield, many of whom wouldn’t ever come for a football match. A lot were experiencing Anfield and Liverpool for the first time.

“Many people travelled in from outside the area, which is very valuable. As a key stakeholder in the city, it’s important to promote what a great city Liverpool is. The overwhelmingly positive response was extremely gratifying. We look forward to doing more of it in the years to come.”

With Everton’s new stadium on the city’s waterfront close to completion, competition for hosting events like that is about to crank up but Hogan is unconcerned. “Take a look at New York, London, Boston — there are multiple venues where big acts come through on a regular basis,” says Liverpool’s CEO. “The thing that we contend with is a relatively short window of time where we can host events. It has to be in the close-season, leaving sufficient time for the pitch to be relaid for the upcoming season.

“I don’t see another venue close by being a big issue. There are a lot of different acts that will be touring in the years ahead. We’re focused on making Anfield the best venue it can possibly be.” Since the concerts, the final stages of the Anfield Road Stand redevelopment have been taking place, lifting capacity to around 61,000.
