Another odd choice of time for the u18s. Playing Tuesday night so there's not going to be any live coverage.

Premier League statement on entry requirements for overseas players post Brexit: "The number of overseas U21 players a club can sign will be limited to three in the Jan transfer window and six per season. Clubs will not be able to sign overseas players until they are 18."

All new signings from European Union nations will require a work permit that will be allocated on a points-based system. Big news

If that's the same for English players going abroad that's a much worse deal for the FA than Premier League clubs in terms of youth development.

Interesting (perhaps) that Billy has dropped back down to the U18s in their match tonight v Burnley.

And Billy scores, that’ll do him some good.  Also Cannonier.  2-0

Some clubs can get around this by partnering with smaller foreign teams and particularly those that are part of multi club models. Could sign players under 18 and those that don’t immediately meet criteria.

But if the youth players come in later to UK  after they turn 18, then they do not qualify for local homegrown player status. Which means less European players at English clubs.

English clubs will start doing what Barca & Real do - bring in the whole family when the kids are teenagers. But a lot more risky and expensive punt on getting the talent into the local club youth system.

It could mean smaller international talent at English clubs eventually

How many foreign born players actually have home grown status for clubs? It must make up a tiny amount of the overall number of registered players. I just can't see that being too big of an issue for clubs to put them off the multi-club development model of that's the way it goes.

U18s are on lfctv against Manchester United. Kickoff 1130.

Looks like Stewart with dovetail between the under 18's and 23's this season. It will be a test this game as United have some good form themselves so far.

U23s not playing this weekend, unless an unadvertised game, so Stewart can drop back down.  Amazed to see Blair back on the bench.  Assumed the injury earlier this year was a really serious one.

United getting away with every challenge as usual. We should have had a corner before after their goalie touched the ball but got nothing. We are playing much better in the last ten minutes, need to get Frauendorf on the ball more, he always looks dangerous. Corness was unlucky with a freekick which hit the crossbar.

I’ll actually be quite glad when Billy goes off at half time.  I rather think he needs to stop training with the firsts because he doesn’t look like he’s really really trying and really concentrating on who he is meant to be marking.

I have to be honest about this, but whenever I have seen him, he has rarely impressed me. I know Klopp seems to have a lot of hope for him but at this level he just doesn't do things well enough.

If we improve our final ball, we could do a lot better, that has been our main failing in this game. We have got in good positions but either the last ball doesn't reach us or its wildly overhit.

I didn't realise Frauendorf was so young only 16 and he can already play in multiple positions. He's had a really good second half and was one of the better ones in the first as well.

Another mistake at the back, 4-3. Why are we playing so mad, we need better control. So many of these United goals have come from mis-placed passes. They've barely had to work for the goals they've scored.  :butt

There are rumours going around he could get to play in the European game, I hope he doesn't don't feel he is anywhere near enough ready and he stunk the place out in the first half.

Ah, didn't see that. Bad result but at least he got some time at that level and might continue to do so.

On the topic of the European game, can some of the younger lads play despite not being registered? It's a perfect time to give them games, with the result not being too important and rests being needed for usual starters. The likes of Cain and Clarkson have been on the bench for a couple so I think they start.

Yeah, they can be registered to the B list, as long as they've spent 2+ years here, at pretty much any time
