Tough Christmas/New Year fixtures with Spurs, Leeds, Leicester and Chelsea. Rest is fine.

That’s my take on it too. Overall I am happy with that set up of fixtures for the season.

Anyone drawn up a fixture list with all the cup dates inserted into it?

Don't think the start is too bad at all. Don't know a lot about Norwich but I expect them to have the same problems as they did last time around in the prem, lost Buendia but some good attackers, really we should be going there and starting well, then it'd be massive if we could get full crowds back for those early home games. Take it game by game and let's see where we go!

I suppose people are right that the fixtures around Xmas/New Year's are tricky, but feel like we usually deal with Leicester and Spurs pretty easily, certainly even last season we did anyway.

Looks like a pretty balanced set of fixtures for us I'd say

Where's this talk of an international break in January come from?

All I can find for next season is:

September 4, 2021
October 9, 2021
November 13, 2021
March 26, 2022

Southampton ((H)
Chelsea (A)

That's a tough start.

Away from home against a newly promoted team with fans will be a tough game IMO but happy enough with the fixtures. Dec/Jan period without Mo and Sadio will be a concern atm.

Three of our first four away games are against newly promoted sides. Newly promoted teams come up used to winning games. So personally, I would rather they had a few drubbings before we face them.

But they also might be a bit more expansive in the early games until the reality of the league kicks in and they batten down the hatches.

Agree with this. They might actually try and play football for a few games until they're potentially 10 games in, on about 8 points and so give up that dream and settle into playing 10 men behind the ball in a low block every week.

Norwich are Brentford are very much footballing sides anyway and give it a go.

Watford always raise their game for us.

They don't. We lost to them 3-0 the last time we played them, but leading up to that we had won 7 out of the 8 games against them [the other being a draw]scoring 27 goals, and conceding 5.

In terms of the AFCON then looks like Mane and Mo will miss:

15th Jan - Brentford (H)
22nd Jan - Crystal Palace (A)

And then possibly:

9th Feb - Leicester (H)

As tournament ends on the 6th Feb, but depending on how far they go might be too late back from travel and recuperation etc.

Not that bad... tournament starts on 9th Jan and we play Chelsea on 1st Jan, so reckon they'll definitely be available for that game and they maybe join up with their respective teams later.

They'd also be missing FA Cup matches they wouldn't have featured in anyway, plus potentially a League Cup semi final tie.

Unless it's a Senegal/Egypt final you'd hope to have at least Mo or Mane back for Leicester.

Hmm yeah can't see us being in the League Cup by then if previous seasons are anything to go by and with the AFCON, think we'll have to see how we get on with FA cup and maybe take a hit on that. Who knows, might get a preferable draw to a lower league team at home (or UTD away, no doubt).

Spurs A
Leeds H
Leicester A
Chelsea A

... is a tough little run but the rest is nicely spread out.

Something about Wolves at home for a potential trophy lift day excites me, especially after the last time when City pipped us.
United used to win titles on easy street, time for us to take over that real estate

And that defeat was our first in 28 games, having won 27 and drawn 1 of the previous matches (including a 2-0 win over Watford earlier that season).

I think the idea of our 'bogey' teams is a hangover from the years before Jurgen arrived. Many still think teams like Watford, Palace, Burnley, West Brom, etc. are always a thorn in our side, yet the results don't suggest that's been the case for a long time now.

We steam-rollered all of them in 2018/19 and 2019/20 and will do so again next season  8)

Dec

18 – Tottenham Hotspur (A)
26 – Leeds United (H)
28 – Leicester City (A)

January

1 – Chelsea (A)

That's just about as bad a fixture scenario as you can possibly get. Absolute horror show. We have 3 of our 5 hardest away fixtures of the season (United and City the other two) in the space of under 2 weeks with a non-banker at home in the middle of it and FA Cup a few days later. 8-9 points from these 4 games would be a massive achievement IMO.

On paper all are tough matches but in the Christmas period you don't want to travel that much.

London back to Liverpool - Midlands then London isn't that bad.

Chelsea will have to fly out to Asia mid-season to compete in the competition as UEFA's representative at the end of 2021.

You'll never be happy with these 100% but I think it's OK. Norwich first, City away in April - when we might have won the league (or not) anyway, we will know what to play for.

Weird we always get Newcastle in December

3 Saturday fixtures after months of shite late kick offs on Sundays and midweek games is very welcome. Obviously Chelsea is a big TV match so that was going to be moved. Would have liked Burnley to be 3pm or even 530 (which I'm not a big fan of) just for the build up and atmosphere.

Leeds supporters will be right up for that match against us - all being well it'll be their second home match at capacity.

Too early for this sort of chat, but going into the City match on 14 points would seem decent.
