Man who assumed baby's ID jailed
« on: November 8, 2005, 12:21:58 pm »
kind of wierd that no one knows who he is really is dont you think

A man who has used the name of a dead baby for the past 23 years, but who refuses to reveal his true identity, has been jailed for 21 months.
Christopher Edward Buckingham stole his name in 1983 from the birth certificate of a baby who died 20 years earlier.

He was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court after admitting that he had obtained a passport by deception.

During police interviews he said he was Lord Buckingham and had inherited the title on his father's death in 1982.

I'd suggest most people dont get 21 months for obtaining a passport by deception. It would appear that he's being punished for the aggravation factor as opposed to the actual offence committed.

'JACKAL' MAY BE IDENTIFIED

10 November 2005

A CONMAN jailed for stealing a dead baby's identity could soon be unmasked if police persuade his girlfriend to open his bank safety deposit box.

The woman has power of attorney over Christopher Buckingham's box in Switzerland and is said to be "co-operating" with detectives.

Buckingham, who also has a home in Northampton, was arrested during a routine check in Dover with a passport in the name of a boy who died in 1963 - a scam mimicking the plot of the novel The Day of the Jackal.

Buckingham intends to return to Zurich when he is released, where he claims documents in a safety deposit box will prove his innocence. But the judge said yesterday that with no valid documents and no identity he will be unable to leave the UK.

Its all very odd about that safety deposit box. Why would he relinquish control of it? (see earlier story above). Especially if there is a dark secret inside.

And when he comes out he'll have to call himself something. And how does the state get round that? He'll have to be issued a NI number if he wants one.
