not following the whole thread but if anyone is saying Mo shouldn't start on Sunday, they need to give their head a sharp shake.
This might turn out to be the bobble head thread then...  ;D

You want your big players to be pissed off if they’re coming off, they have that drive to always score and always win

some of these takes are just mad.

Hes just back off his torn hammy hes was out for ages and yet there are 3 games in 7 days and a relentless schedule after that so when he looked a little tired after an hour of the second game in 4 days and we needed a shakeup anyway Klopp took him off to save him for Sunday. Klopps a master at this kind of thing, sorry THE master and even in Mo doesn't like it tough shit. A (finally)rested Gakpo scored a beauty to take the pressure off. check. 3 points. check.

Mo was actually quite to very good against Brighton albeit rusty, the man had 12 shots ffs and if he had what Jurgen calls "Rhythm" he would have scored a hatful. Still got the winner.  and was decent enough in this game also untill he got tired. Rumours of his sporting death are greatly exaggerated.

these are people not robots. He needs to build back into shape like any other player. Suggesting he's so far off the boil he needed to be yanked and shouldn't start against the mancs does not match up with reality imo. are people really trying to tell Mo Salah "what have you done for me lately?"  Well, he won us the previous game.

recency bias needs a new and better descriptor because its off the charts everywhere. People seem to have a one news cycle memory these days.
Amplification does not equal truth.

You would have to be out of your fucking mind to not play Mo Salah away at Old Trafford. Like fully playing bongos with your undies on your head and pencils up your nose shouting wibble kind of out of your mind.

And luckily Big Jorg is not our manager!

Coz you've just described a quiet Saturday night for him.

Nunez got an assist. They were both guilty of missing golden chances.

To be fair both had pretty awful games in front of goal, which is what they get paid for. It's been 3 games in a row now and it could have cost us the league.
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

That's why we have a squad. If a player is 100% then its not compulsory for him to start.

Has he always fasted during Ramadan? And as strictly as he appears to be doing now (I don't remember the 8pm breakfast before)?

Yes and it was till later in past years. Might be age and not coping as well as before because he’s been really poor this year.

It seems to me a little bit mad to expect a player to perform to a high level without food and water. Mo coming back from the African Cup and injury has not been the boon we expected.

But we do have a squad so we're not forced to start him when he's not 100%.

It seems incredible to think of dropping Mo. But I would do so. Use him in 15 minute spells from the bench until he shows his true form. The combination of the African Nations Cup and Ramadan is not great for your star player and I'd expect this to be factored into any future buys. Meanwhile the player who is absolutely screaming to be played is - of course - Harvey Elliott.

Not scoring points just pointing out they were equally bad. If we decide to drop Mo, whose getting the goals out of interest? Mo's having a bad spell yes, but without him we're not in any title chase.

iv'e no idea but i think the whole thing is utterly mad. I respect his wishes and any other Muslim but he is paid an incredible amount of money to be at his absolute peak for us and it's obvious he looks completely flat and has no energy at the moment. When does the fasting thing end anyway?

Whether you like it or not, his religion is far more important to him than this football club, his career and whatever money we may pay him.

Yeah i understand that and i said i respect it. Just think it's a valid point that he looks flat and i wonder if it's having more of an effect on him than it did in his younger years.

Nobody said anything about dropping him, you initially replied to someone simply saying Mo's not playing that well at the moment. You then proceeded to drag other players in to it and now making it out like they wanted Mo dropped. Nobody is saying that, unlike you who wants Nunez dropped for the next game despite him opening the scoring against Sheff Utd and creating the first goal today.

Good pen but he's just not playing well.

(In before some point to his goal)
To be honest, I don't think it was a particularly good penalty. It wasn't right in the corner and I think if the keeper dived the right way, it would've been saved. He's really not been on recently, but that's probably down to the fact he's coming back from a long lay off. I don't buy all this rubbish about Ramadan. He's been perfectly fine in seasons past in this regard.

its infuriating that we cant have our main man present when we need him most.  He still isnt right after going off to play in the AFCON.

That's the downside to having one of the best players in the world who's nation plays in the AFCON, wouldn't change him for anyone so we have to deal with that.
