I very much disagree, i think its at least on par with ours

Sevilla, Depor, Valencia, Getafe, Espanyol, Zaragoza -  granted a few are having poor seasons but they could all match Villa, Spurs, Man City, etc.
Like i said, outside the top 5 it ain't that great. The difference at the moment is that If the gel headed twat went to La Liga(hopefully soon) he would take to it straighjt away, whereas Messi would take a while to struggle with the pace of the premiership. You can't deny that Ronaldo has been the main difference for the Mancs this season.

Messi played well as an individual, fantastic even, yet he created next to nothing.
If Ronaldo had ran at players and tried a few fancy passes yet created fuck all everyone would all be calling him a c*nt with no end-product, Messi does it and he's the second coming of Christ

I think its coz people admire Messi's ability to just glide past players at ease, something ronaldo doesn't have, he can beat  a man with tricks, but Messi seems to do it almost naturally, hard to describe

Ronaldo scored a brilliant goal yesterday, and this is posted about it

"Take a look at his first goal yesterday - he's pretty much allowed to take the ball 30 yards into their box and shoot."

Messis a brilliant player and would love him at United but i prefer Ronaldo. I wonder if they'll swap him for Park.  :-\

He is a top player.

But he hasn't cut the diving out of his game, that is just bullshit.

I also laugh when people say he is a midfielder, because he isn't at all, he is a forward, and always plays as a forward. If Messi is a forward, then Ronaldo is a forward.

For the record, Messi is better, but Ronaldo is more effective in this league.

At least Gerrard and Torres don't look like they're going to break down in tears and have a hissy fit when they shoot from the edge of the box, and they miss the target by a couple of yards.
It happened last week. He missed and he looked like he was going to cry. I thought ol' whiskey-nose was going to run on the pitch to give him a lollipop to take the pain away. :wanker
It's going to be so funny watching the little shit crying his heart out in Moscow. Almost as good as winning the cup itself.

Messi is the most talented player in the world. Ronaldo is by far the most effective. What do you want really?

If Messi ever reaches his potential then he'll be a class above anyone else playing football at the time, in the same way that Ronaldo was for a handful of years at Barcelona and Inter Milan. At the moment though, he hasn't, so Ronaldo is rightfully called the "best" player in the world, even if he isn't the most talented (he's "only" 2nd or 3rd when it comes to that ::))

Can't argue with a guy that has won back to back titles on his own.

Where was Gerrard against Chelsea?

Gerrard's got previous in big games

Champs League Final'05
FA Cup Final'06
UEFA Cup Final'01

Ronaldo hasn't, hence people not mentioning Gerrard bottling big games.

If he stays with United for the duration of his career he'll go down as their best player ever. With the exception of Duncan Edwards I've seen just about all of their great players. Him and Messi are the two most exciting players in the game today.

Gerrard's got previous in big games

Champs League Final'05
FA Cup Final'06
UEFA Cup Final'01

Ronaldo hasn't, hence people not mentioning Gerrard bottling big games.

Led Portugal almost single handedly to a European Championship final and and 4th in the World Cup.

Scored and assisted 2 in a Fa Cup final when he was 18. (I know the opposition were shit but he still did it in a big game)

Man of the match and goal against Wigan in Carling Cup Final. (OK debatable if big game or not but still a cup)

Almost single handedly led United to back to back league titles.

Scored against Roma and Milan last season in the quarters and Semis of the Champions League, didn't do it in the away leg but the lad was knackerd after a full season while the Milan team had a rest.

Agaisnt the top 4 this season.

Goal and assist away to Arsenal.
Nothing at Anfield this year but should of had an assist if Rooney put that one on one away. Also had an assist last year.
Arsenal at home - Scored.
Liverpool at home - Scored.
Didn't play Chelsea away and would of scored a penalty but decided to let Saha take it in the home leg.

Also scored agaisnt Lyon at home to take us through to a Champions League Quarter Final and then against Roma to take us through to a Champions League Semi Final.

His running created the space for Scholes for the goal against Barca drawing 3 players to the ball.

Martun Samuel of the Times sardonically penned: "Noted small-game player Cristiano Ronaldo set Manchester United on the way to an entirely meaningless Champions League semi-final with a not at all brave header agaisnt the completely useless, second-best team in Italy in the benign dilapidated cowshed that is the Olympic Stadium.

Face it mate, a lot of Mancs think Ronaldo is the perfect footballer and will not accept even a tiny bit of criticism on his head, or that he might have negatives.

Dare I say it is typical Manc arrogance.

But you can't have it both ways. You can't say it is a positive that he "Almost single handedly led United to back to back league titles." and then say that you aren't a one-man team.

Can you?

Think you're scrapping the barrel a bit with those "big games" - Millwall? Wigan? Even Roma hardly count as big.

Singlehandely took them to Euro 2004 final - carrying Carvalho, Deco, Figo, Costa, etc was he?

Nice of Clichy to let him out of his pocket to score the penalty this season against Arsenal though so I'll give you that one.

And crediting him for Scholes wonder goal - it's like the guy who passed to Maradona V England on the half way line in '86 taking credit for that goal!

Thank you, someone else realises....

Whoever says that Ronaldo has 'hardly scored agaisnt big teams this season' it's bollocks, abs bollocks...top goal scorer in the worlds best club competiion.

What 'Big games' has Torres scored this season...

None agaisnt United.
1 Inter (I think, maybe 2)
Chelsea - 2 I think in 4 games
Arsenal? I'm not sure....
