The worry here is Stokes has been so negative in his approach that he can't just suddenly turn it on. Ask any batsman, it's not easy to go from survival mode to hitting boundaries.

NZ still favourites, a lot to do here for England even with these 2 doing so well.
Needed to be in this position with 10 overs left ideally.

He just needs to stay in and let Buttler go for it. If Buttler gets out, then it's on Stokes.

NZ will win.

Neither team has got more than one over at the required rate, let alone every single one.

trint's bowling 3 of these as well so they won't be going for much. given ourselves too much to do and the ball just isn't going to the boundary.

I’d be feeling pretty good out there if I was a kiwi. Can’t see where England’s next boundary is coming from. Just keep doing what they’re doing and England will throw their wickets away in the last 3 overs.

Match is completely on Buttler's bat.

run rate just keeps on getting worse.

That's normal in this situation though, but 10 an over off two is better than 8 an over off 6.

Even with a boundary England still don’t get the required runs in the over.

The commentators are just building England up so they can talk about what a surprise it is NZ kept them out.

HUGE WICKET!!!!!
Mark my words. Top 8 will be a massive struggle.
We won't make any big signings this season and we will go back to being a top4 club.

Great innings. Poor shot to finish though. If Morgan and Root, the two captains, had played anywhere near as well we'd have gamboled home

Stokes needs to tee off here. His 60 strike rate is hindering more than helping. You caused this RRR, you fix it.

I would say the other 4 getting out early caused it. Can't blame Stokes for needing to rebuild.

Nah, when he came in the required run rate was about 5. It's 9.2 now and that's with Buttler going run a ball.

All on Root and Morgan this, literally just needed sensible batting
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.
