It still scares me when any of our cb try those cheeky passes between two players rushing to close then down but hopefully the more the likes of him and agger do it the more the opposition stop trying.

It's tough being a pool fan for the right reasons again, nervousness due to hope rather than despair throughout the match.

Brings composure to the defence, something we sorely lack at times.  Same can be said for Toure.

Id like to see a backline of sometime soon

Johnson - Toure - Sakho - Cissokko

Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing that.  A real shame that Cissokho got injured so early on.  I don't know if it is just me or is it since Carra pointed out Enrique's style of play (so to speak) but he just appears utterly brainless.  I knew he wasn't the sharpest tool but lately I just see him as completely lost out there.

It wasnt too long ago Enrique was an absolute liability at Newcastle . He's obviously improved since then but still not the level we want to be .

When we get every one of our defenders totally fit, the competition will be ridiculous and will push each of them to perform at their very best. Plus we'll have the added bonus of being able to rest some and not feel a noticeable dropoff.

to be honest i love his confidence on the ball, it may scare me but if we want to implement playing from the back then we have to have the balls to execute it. too many times our defenders string a couple of passes together and then hoof it because of a lack of options, Sakho seems to do that rarely

Funny you say that because Cissokho was a liability at his previous club himself.

In regards to Sakho though impressive performances thus far, bi physical lad but can play on the deck to, looks a promising signing so far.

Perhaps Sakho and Cissokho would be a good idea on that left side?  Both French and played in the same league, would know each others games etc.

Glad he played well and won his first game. He will always be highly rated by us, and I hope the best for him and Liverpool!

A lot of comments were quite accurate, a beast in the air and very powerful. Good on the ball but sometimes a tiny bit overconfident, which results in some risky plays (hope he keeps on improving on that)

I read some comments from your fans that were quite critical of his mobility and that he wasn't agile enough for your system. Is this true, or is it just fans putting positive spin on a player leaving?

certainly improved since swansea.

didnt break the line apart from once but there was no one around him or the back 4...i presume he knew that ?

looks much better now but we will have to wiat and see...when we go back to a back 4 at some point.

Ridiculous. What a player he will end up being, only 23 years old. Surprised people are so nervous about his passing, I think he looks so confident and assured.

His style at times (with passing) can appear a bit weird, but its becoming clearer as the games go by that he's very good on the ball. Doubt Rodgers would have sanctioned 16 million pounds to be spent on him without making sure he fulfilled that criteria as well.

Unreal stats for the match, delighted we signed him up.

Loving him so far and would love to see him and Toure as a centre back pairing.

Looks so comfortable on the ball, almost like Agger but also seems to be a dominant defender too. Got a bit of pace as well, could be a truly inspired bit of business this lad.

By the way, I think this guy and Toure make it a more 'credible', or perhaps I should say, less heart attacky, when we sit back and try to soak up pressure these days. We saw how it was when Agger/Skrtel/Toure were doing it in the first few games, especially against Villa and the Mancs, but since Sakho's come in... feels far more solid that area of the pitch.

Hopefully we get Hyypia levels of calm and being a mountain in defence by the end of the season. I'd love that, as we've been crying out for that since Sami retired ... over 4 years ago!

Most impressive aspect of the performance was how he bossed one of the most physical strikers in the league. We used to look vulnerable when balls were lumped up to big men but not anymore

Well never thought his mobility was an issue (and never heard anybody talk about it).
The main issue is that after a spell of very good games, he would often make silly mistakes and "give away" some goals.
But hopefully he will correct that.

I still don't understand why Alex was prefered. He should have been associated to Thiago Silva  in a rotation with marquinhos, with alex as backup.

But what is done is done and at least Sakho joined a team I like :)

Looks like everything we hoped Skrtel would become for us in Rodgers' system. Really dominant in the air, aggressive in pursuing the ball, and just being a composed, physical presence at the back.

was it intention to play 3 CB ?? so we bought that many on the last day of transfer window ? or it just a good twist since Johnson injured,

Sahko looks very good and confident with the ball, even we are down he still play ok, we seldom to see in the past when we are a goal down

His longterm intention is to play 4 centre halves at the back in a 4-6 formation with cissokho and Johnson on the wings as part of the 6. His reasoning for this is to not concede, ever. After the Southampton game he has realised that it will take a while to correctly implement this procedure so he will introduce it slowly. Suarez and for the more long term Sturridge will effectively be impact bench players for the unlikely scenario that we ever go a goal behind. You have to remember, it's extremely difficult to go from a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 to a 4-6 formation overnight.
