That brought a tear to my eye. This was from a time when there were some proper characters seen all over the country. I doubt there is anyone from that time who doesn’t remember Jaffa. Let’s hope he gets somewhere to live before Christmas.

I doubt it will take off around me in the Main Stand, quite a few have difficulty knowing who the players are never mind a right wing Scouse hating political party. I'll give it a go though!

Sounded good fun! Singing loud and proud at 5-0 down. Seems it only takes a mid-week League Cup match being played by our youth team to get it going. Guess the tourists just weren't interested!!

I could only listen to the commentary on the radio as I was driving home tonight. The travelling Reds sounded fantastic. They were all you could hear.

Great support for the youngsters tonight. Both players and fans did themselves and the club proud.

Fair play to anyone who went the game last night from our lot.

A lot of people may say they'd do anything to go to a game but last night was one many of us would have swerved. Midweek away, a week before Xmas, when you know you'll be watching the U23s getting outplayed by a Premier League side. Not everyone in our fanbase would be up for that.

Not only did fans turn up in our thousands, we supported the lads/boys on the pitch from minutes 1 to gone the final whistle. Immensely proud of the people who went last night. The anti-Tory songs were the icing on the cake.

It's games like these that dictate how good our match going support is. Not necessarily creating a boss atmosphere in a CL semi final (though both are necessary).

Cant believe they came over for that. Bet they paid more than £20 for the tickets too!

Had a great night. I do wonder why some think its acceptable to go round snapping seats at opposition grounds though. Just no point.

Unbelievably loud on the TV from the first minute to the last. Certainly made me very proud of our support, and as others have said, I'm sure the boys on the pitch were loving it. Up the Reds

Agree with this.

Also, I'm thinking, could the TV people have made them sound even louder by the locations of their pitch side microphones?
Sound engineers etc. can do all sorts of things.
Part of me thinks the TV people knew it was gonna be a bit subdued from the Villa fans, so they 'turned' the mikes more to our fans instead..

4500. I was in the upper section and, whilst there was a lot of songs started, there weren’t that many joining in so I am a bit surprised that it sounded loud. Thoroughly enjoyed the way we dominated possession even though we didn’t make many chances after the first quarter of an hour.

Did our dislike of Johnson and the Tories come over on TV?
