What i don't understand right now is our (we fan) interest in looking for squad players. Even though i reckon that our squad depth is very poor, it doesn't mean that we are looking to get some squad players in the summer.
Every time we heard some news about LFC and our summer activity whether it come from our players, our staff, kenny or Comolli, it's for stating that we are going to be active in the transfer market (meaning spending big).
We also heard several times Kenny saying that we are going to spend money for players better than the one we have. Could it be possible for us all to imagine those players will be better than the choosen one we have ie. The first XI players ??
This winter, we brought in Suarez and Carroll and we shipped out FT and Babel. The former two are in our first XI. So talking about buying players such as Kranjkar and Adam as squad players doesn't make sense at all right now. We have to enhance the quality and pace of our first XI and that's why i think that we won't be signing those players
Comolli said in a recent interview that we'll be looking to add to our squad depth as well as adding quality in there, we can buy Sanchez, Hazard & Coentrao but we'll never have them play about 50 games if we want to win all competitions, as a matter of fact our first eleven right now is one of the best in the league but the problem is that they hardly played together due to injuries and suspensions.
Adding players like Kranjcar, Marveaux & Adam is a move in the right direction, it is all about the team and certainly they will improve our squad and provide good backup option when the likes of Gerrard, Meireles & Lucas get injured or suspended, they can also help us apply a good rotation policy that will prevent players from getting tired and therefore less injured.
It is all about the team and not the individuals, Man City & Real Madrid are the perfect examples that buying names doesn't guarantee trophies, Man United (as much as I hate to admit it) are also the perfect example that you don't need to have a team full of big names to win, rather have a coherent united (no pun intended) will do a better job.x
