The thing is you don't trust Nunez to do anything. You don't trust him to lead our attack, you don't trust him to counter attack and you don't trust him against a low block.

The thing is the stats don't back that up. For his two seasons at Liverpool he has been pretty much bang on a League goal every 180 minutes. So a goal every other game if he played the full 90 every week. So around 19 League goals per season despite not being a regular penalty taker for us.

At Benfica in his second season he scored a League goal every 76 minutes which is prolific.

So from the age of 21-24 he has scored a League goal every 123 minutes. So if he played 90 minutes in every game he would average out at just under 28 League goals per season from the age of 21-24.

Amazing how a player you wouldn't trust to play in an under 9's 5 a side has a record like that?

Exaggerating much hah. I don't think Nunez is shite. I think he's okay...and is probably one of my favourite personalities in the team. Looks calm off the pitch but a madman on it. Gives his all. If I could wave a magic wand and have one player succeed I'd pick him. I just don't think he's good enough to lead Liverpool's attack. No hate on the fella.

Stats are stats but nothing beats the eye test + context.

There are literally tens of posts where you have argued differently in the past, that Rodgers and Klopp did not have the final say on transfers …

Ian Ayre

“There’s only one person that has the final say over what players [we sign] at Liverpool Football Club and that’s Jurgen Klopp right now,” he insisted.

“That’s always been the case for as long as I’ve been here.”

What I have said previously is that the situation has been manipulated so that the manager has basically Hobsons choice.

Yep, if he was paying advantage then there was no reason to call on the physio. Total garbage yet again because of a reflex that miraculously only kicks in when Liverpool or Wolves are the wronged party. No corruption!!

Yes, I am enjoying it. LFC is one of the great loves of my life. Been a fan since a nipper, can just about remember back to Kenny coming in, and everything since. I live overseas these days and watch all our games on tv.

Obviously there are issues. Man City are cheats and the Prem needs to be strong, and thorough, to see that through.
The refereeing is bad, and Tomkins wrote a large piece that strongly suggests deeper issues than them just being bad.

So I’m not blind to the issues.

With the tiniest bit of luck, Klopp could be leaving with 3 league titles and 3 CL titles. He has been a great leader and great manager for us. But all things come to an end, and his time is coming to a close.

We have a very good squad and some great youngsters coming through. A new manager is on the way. I’m excited to see what he will do. We have a structure at the club that will hopefully set him up to succeed. There are a few issues in the squad to resolve and I am looking forward to seeing how we handle it.

Gutted this season hit the wall late on. After unexpectedly getting into a title fight, I would have loved to win it - for the players, fans, and especially our great leader Jurgen Klopp. But it wasn’t to be. Instead we have a cup in the bag, a probable third spot in the league, and a new chapter is about to begin with the club in a strong position.

Yes, I am enjoying it, warts and all. Our games are in my diary, I will arrange work things around it if I can, I watch with my lad, I phone my dad back in England to talk about it all and it gives me a sense of where I am from and an abiding connection to my roots… yes, I am enjoying it.

The kit would have been a lot better with a simple white roll neck collar like the one on the current kit.

No idea what happened there unless Taylor called for an advantage there

He couldn't have played advantage though because he restarted the game with a drop ball. If it was a case of playing advantage and then bringing it back for a free kick then the restart would have been a free kick.

From the restart Taylor drops the ball and Areoloa picks the ball up.

He was 60 yards away when Areola initially assumed he had a free kick and rolled the ball a good ten yards away from where he caught the ball. Areola is in the process of taking the free kick when Gakpop realises it isn't a dead ball situation. Gakpo then waves at the assistant and asks if he can challenge for the ball and there is no flag.

Areola has made a silly mistake and then Taylor decides to intervene. He stops play, asks for the physios to come on, and then tells Areola to go to the floor despite Areola trying to attempt to play the ball twice.

It is corrupt as fuck.

Good parts from bradders and Jwils. As the excitement of the Klopp era dissipates, I find myself asking when was the last time football actually brought me joy. Even the cup wins in 2022 and 2024, did I enjoy those or did I just feel a lot of anxiety followed by relief? I think the COVID pause might have been the end of football joy for me. The way everyone tried to get the season annulled, the way even friends of mine said with straight faces that our title should have an asterisk over it... perhaps this was the tipping point where it became clear that what some call banter is really just psychological cruelty. I know, strange that this should be the tipping point when we've had 35 years of tragedy/ poverty chanting, but I suppose it was just the sheer lack of acknowledgement of excellence that did it for me. Like, I despised Ferguson with a passion, and might have mitigated some of his accomplishments, but I always respected his undeniable greatness. That has gone from the game, spirited away by brazen cheating, washed away in oceans of cash and political power plays, obfuscated by confected outrage and false equivalence. All that's left is a vehicle for hatred in a disintegrating society. The last bastion of decency is exiting the stage and the audience are shouting good riddance you c*nt.

There is a monumental difference though between working under a Sporting Director and alongside one. I would say Guardiola, Arteta, Klopp, Emery, Ange, Ten Hag, Howe etc work alongside DoF their DoF's.

For me that is changing with Slot. Rodgers and Klopp had the final say on transfers. The new structure changes that for me. That is the massive difference.

Can anyone somehow explain why the referee blew when Gakpo was about to put the ball into the net?

Did the referee wave for an advantage then changed his mind when he thought the keeper wasn’t fit to play on? That’s about as close I can get to a plausible answer. However there was no foul and it looks like the keeper threw the ball down and then stopped to pull up his socks. I’d love to hear a decent answer as I am completely stumped and it just looks like the referee made it up on the sport.

I don't know, I think the fact that we allowed Bowen to cross uncontested from within our penalty area under no pressure into a 2 v 2 in our box was the bigger issue, but what do I know?

Perhaps if the five players standing around watching the cross come in had intervened earlier, we wouldn't be relying on our CB's to win every duel against Michael Antonio to keep a clean sheet.

It's almost as if that goal had been coming for five minutes before-hand, via approaches we've seen repeated many times this season or something.
It was also a 25% chance that was given up. Antonio shot was really good
