Apparently they want Koulibaly for 80 million quid ... so that's ANOTHER left sided centre back which is weird .. and yet another 120 million no the defence

Shouldn't the greatest coach in the world (tm) be able to coach and improve some of the 59 defenders he's bought since he went there??!

And he should be asking for at least £500,000 pw.

Hahaha, stolen from twitter.

"Since its purchase by the sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Manchester City has managed to cheat its way into the top echelon of European football and create a global, immensely profitable football empire, ignoring rules along the way. The club's newfound glory is rooted in lies."

Guardiola likes to re-invent football.  Maybe his latest innovation is three left-sided central defenders linking arms while Walker and Ederson cover the other two thirds of the defensive space.

Sky reporting City have confirmed Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte have tested positive for Covid-19.

From the BBC

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54053761

Pep Guardiola's side play Wolverhampton Wanderers in their first fixture of the new league season on 21 September.

Both players are in the United Kingdom and with the self-isolation period being 10 days, Mahrez and Laporte should be available for City's game with Wolves in three weeks' time.

Am i missing something here - like an extra week?

Their first game is in around 14 days? So if they can't join training for around that time I doubt they'll be playing. Although Pep is a managerial genius so I'm sure he will coach a young/squad player to fill the role buy another two players to fill the positions.

Almost certainly tempting fate for one or more of ours testing positive but that's really poor from them.  It's not like either were dragged away by their international teams so it doesn't seem that much to expect top, top level professional players be able to avoid infection between games.  They all seemed to manage it during the preparation for and the (hilariously brief) involvement in the Champions League knock-out ties.

And their team mate Foden has allegedly  been “entertaining” girls in his hotel room in violation of Iceland’s Covid lockdown.

Justification for Guardiola to now go out and drop £150m on Koulibaly, £700m on Messi and then buy a couple of fullbacks as a treat.

Actually looks like they might have a settled first 11:

Carson

Ake
Laporte

Ederson - deep playmaker
Cancelo - moved to midfield to create
Walker - Pace and power in the middle
Angelino - Attack right wing
Zinchenko - Defensive left winger

Mendy - RW - not trusted defensively now
Sterling - ST
Jesus - LW - replaced by Foden on 89 minutes

This of course leaves them short of cover at full back.

Phil Foden another, ignorant, arrogant Abu Dhabi player who doesn't think rules apply to him. What a surprise.  Having already been bought to task on social distancing a few months back, says it all about how little he cares that he now does this.
