I rate Rice highly and wouldn't mind him but I wouldn't £100m+ wouldn't mind him, if that makes sense.

You might not think so but when I've got head in hands, can't watch and screaming to just clear the fucking ball I don't think that's defending well.

Tomatoes tomatoes you see your way I see mine

We are still finding our form and after a tough game on Sunday with all the changes I think it was okay. Yes, there were a few loose moments but that is always going to happen in a game like this.

More stressful than it needed to be really. We were awesome for the first 40 minutes, but really fell off after that. Klopp's subs in the 60th minute killed the game for us; none of Elliott, Jones or Fabinho looked great.

Entire defence was great (bar Gomez's moment of madness), and Nunez was absolutely fantastic. Robbed of MOTM by Ally McCoist on commentary.

Big big win. Excellent 1st half performance and nunez was a constant threat. We controlled the game very well in the first half apart from the moment of madness from Gomez. Great game from Allison and VVD again.

The subs completely nullified our attacking threat and west ham got more into the game. Robbo & Milner were excellent in their brief appearances and provided some much needed energy. Fabinho had a very poor impact, did not win tackles and was easily dispossessed multiple times.

I must admit I get nervous when we play it casually around the back. However when the opposition do it I just assume they’ll play it out with ease.

Anyway 3 points and after Sunday’s exertions that’s an achievement, particularly with the injury situation.

Klopp just mentioned Nunez may have had a loose hamstring, so maybe the sub was optional today.

Should've scored moe goals, but have to remember we've just come off the back of a very intense game on Sunday. Plus we have an early kick off on Saturday. Can fully understand why the subs were made when they were. Let's just keep this momentum going till the world cup.

Yeah, still don't get what Rice is all about. I've always said, I've never been impressed by him. Apparently tonight he was good enough to be MOTM despite being on the losing side, and aside from a couple of decent passes and one burst forward he wasn't all that. He's English though.

Wasnt MOTM, Bobby, Thiago and Nunez all better. He had a wonderful 2nd half though alleviated alot of pressure on them and provided great play to get them off the back foot. Sometimes it feels like him being english puts him in a bad standing on here (not you specifically) because he get's praise in this country, he's a very good CM. The fees talked about him from West Ham are stupid but not suprising, he's their most valuable player and everyone knows he isn't worth 150million, they're simply pricing him out of a move,

The early kick off on Saturday must have been the reason for the early subs. It caused us to become a little disjointed second half, but clung on for the win and three more points on Saturday will do nicely.

It’s very odd. He’s a decent midfielder, no more or less. But because England has been pretty starved of decent DMs…for decades really, he’s hyped to the moon. Flabbergasting to see him named MOTM when Ali and Virg were colossal, oh and Nunez and Bobby obviously
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

I am supremely confident that Klopp and co will not waste 100 million on a player like Rice, so all this laughable overhyping of yet another "superstar" english player by FM players on here doesn't bother me.

As I said, he is a two season wonder and will probably end up at Newcastle or Everton or something.

Not even going to try and say that a win is a win, because that second half was fucking abject and we obviously still have problems. I’m tempted to say Klopp is the worst manager “at” substitutions in the history of the club, and I include Hodgson in that. Game was a fucking mess after his triple sub. Very very lucky.

What a load of shite.

We defended really well. Less worried when Robbo came on but slightly concerned that Rice overpowered Fabinho and Hendo at the same time.

I'm chuffed with the win, but, seriously, some of our defending was horrific. The Gomez challenge to give away a pen was really poor, but the sequence that led to Milly's diving saving block was typical of our season - firstly Jones (I think) made a really poor attempt to close down their CB getting no where near the passing lane to their fullback taking himself right out of the game, the FB tonks a diagonal which Trent misjudges allowing it to go over his head poorly, he closes down his man only to get too close, then tries to push him off the ball because he couldn't be bothered to track him properly (a common theme for both him and Gomez this season), Fabinho makes a pretty poor half clearance, but the ball falls kindly to their attacker who feeds into Soucek who is only stopped from a simple tap-in by brilliant defending from Milner. To cap it all off, they had a completely free header from the resulting corner which they fucked up. The whole passage of play was a defensive cluster-fuck. There's no getting around it. If we have our sights set on mid-table, then, yeah, it can happen at the end of a game when you're tired. But fuck me if our standards have dropped so low so quickly. Trent needs a fucking rocket up his arse. We need squad players that can put in a shift, are not labouriously slow and are solid defensively, not a load of potentially magnificent kids who are either too naive, too physically weak, too unbalanced (good going forward, not so great the other way), permanently injured or just plain lazy.

Sorry, didn't mean to get so negative, but I really can't see us sustaining any form this season with this level of defending. At least Virg and Fab have realised they're not playing walking football. If they could let TAA know, that would be great.

2nd half was concerning but we got the 3 points and another clean sheet. Nice to see us grinding out another 1 goal win as ultimately that’s what won us the big trophies. Being able to see out close games.

On to Saturday now. Get the 3 points there and it’s the makings hopefully of a good run back up the table.

Jordan was everything Rice is and more, a magnificent leader and very good player.

However Jordan's really struggling to impose himself against PL teams nowadays, he and Fabinho both look really leggy.

Beat Forest and the table will start to look much more promising with Chelsea to play United and Spurs to play Newcastle. Could easily just be one result away from the top 4 at that point.

Rice is quality but I don’t think today is necessarily the game where he stood out head and shoulders above everyone else. He was chasing shadows until Thiago went off and Henderson clearly got tired as the game progressed. Also Fabinho must have had one hell of a warm up cos it looked like he came on with 90 mins already in his legs.

I suspect if we mention Trippier and Maguire being picked over Trent and Gomez it’d be missing the point, or something
