It’s an injury a game at the moment. Ridiculously annoying and makes life so much harder. Although we’re coping pretty well!

Remember back in the summer when some in the transfer thread were complaining we had too many players and we should be looking to offload a few. We're going to have to heavily rotate in those last two CL matches to keep key players fresh and healthy

We can maybe add a second discussion thread - will split it out pronto :)

I wonder why our players get injured so easily. Is it because we’ve got a group of injury prone players or can it be related to the intensity they put in training/games?

Reserves in the last two games and the league cup. We simply can't afford anymore injuries now or it will derail our season. Bobby being injured again is a huge worry with Salah and Sadio off to the African tournament in a few weeks.

He has about eight weeks to get fit before they go.  I'd expect he'll be back shortly after the international break!

The annoying one will be Keita who will probably get into his stride again just in time for AFCON and a restart of the cycle that has haunted him since the last AFCON.

Klopp has generally manoeuvred us through injuries really well during his time in charge but even he reached his limit in the middle third of last season.

Feels like a dream week if we *only* get 1 or 2 injuries right now, it's absolutely relentless. In the last 10 days alone that's Milner hamstring (again), Firmino hamstring (again), Gomez calf, Jones eye, Keita hamstring. Anyone I've missed? It's easy to forget  ;D I know we train and stuff but seems like players that don't even get on the pitch much still get injured, Kelleher last season, Neco earlier this season etc. It's never ending.

If Curtis has to lie down for a week because of an eye injury, doesn't that indicate a detached retina?

What are the range of prognoses for that type of injury?

Obv Welshred will know better but I recently (well last year) had a carpet I was taking up whip up and the corner hit me in the eye at speed

Fucking painful it was. Was up all night Couldnt shut my eye as my eye lid was touching the white of my eye which had been damaged. I was off work for a week and told to lie down, vision was blurry was a bit scary to be honest

I’m hoping his was a knock and has a minor eye bleed not a fkn great gauge out like mine was or he’ll be out for a good month ! Doesn’t sound it.

3 of them non contact injuries during games think Thiagos was as well - continuing last seasons disappointing trend.
Either our “sports science” team aren’t great, or the ability to prevent or predict injuries isn’t really a thing or our players aren’t suited to what we’re asking them to do … but this frequency of injuries during games seems really high given the level of the club

Or every injury to our midfield makes another injury to our midfield more likely
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!

Normally a player can look great on tubes, but one of the things that's encouraging for me is just the amount of youtube videos on him

Our players are too weak and like getting injured as Kieta has admitted.

We need to create an injury gulag of sorts to strike fear into them. If they injure their foot, they can break rocks all day. If they have dislocated their shoulder, they can pull the plough all day. 18 hours of hard labour and minimal rations will make them think twice before being injured.

This will toughen them up to no end.

Could we not just fine them whenever they get injured? That’d stop them doing it.

Yes but then what about the rocks and the fields...

Rocks need to be broken into gravel and fields need to be ploughed.

3 hamstring injuries in just over a week is a little concerning esp when u add in the other muscle injuries as well. Just hoping the likes of Ox can improve with more minutes on the pitch so they can contribute.

The CL matches are conversely going to be even more important as we need to build a rhythm with the remaining players and get them ready for the Xmas matches.

I think our history related to international injuries warrants a lot of concern.  I'll believe they're OK when I hear the club say so.

Southgate said he picked up the injury in the game so why did he play 90 mins when half the team were subbed off with the game won?

He wouldn't have played anyway if Rice hadn't cried off.

An injury for him was inevitable after playing a load of full games back to back.

It's just basics. Henderson was required by Liverpool to play more than Klopp would have ideally liked in the last month due to other injuries. Southgate didn't need to play him for 90 minutes.

He's over 30 with an injury history and needs to cover a lot of ground. Milner's hamstrings go whenever he plays twice a week. Milner at least has had no England commitments while he's been here. Throw all the never ending internationals into the mix.
