A little restricted by the formations and who they've decided can fit where, but what you got?

I stopped because they wouldn't let me pick Salah wide right in a 4-2-3-1 ;D

For me:

Ali

Nicol, Hansen, Virg, Robertson

Souness, Stevie

Salah, Dalglish, Barnes

Rush

Great team. I think that's mine. Xabi and Keegan on the bench.
Mine too, I think (switched Gerrard and Souness), but I gave up on the front three. Dalglish a certainty and almost certainly at least one of the others but - too hard*.

* Players at their absolute peak, or ability over a period of time? Overlook how a player left/wanted to leave/was a bit of a twat?...

I almost forgot Keegan, who I barely saw, though is probably why I'm a Liverpool supporter (same pit village, same school as my uncle who was going to games). Nice balance maybe him opposite Salah, with Dalglish pulling the strings.

The focus now should not be on who the owners are, but limits on what owners can do without formal supporter agreement. At all clubs.

We did this a couple of years ago and my only change to that team is Alisson for Clemence.  At the time I thought that Alisson was probably the better GK, but hadn't played enough games, but now he is even better and has enough appearances and winners medals to justify his place.

This would actually be more of a 4-2-3-1 with Barnes wide left, Salah wide right, and Dalglish in the 'number 10' position, but that wasn't an option.

i was exacly the same, even choosing Clem in the past. Still - no Keegan, Xabi, sadio, God etc. so difficult.

Also I get Suarez on ability but he was here for a very short time and won a league cup, can’t have him in an all time XI

Same for me, although I had Robertson at left back. Might be a bit silly to pick players you've barely seen, but considering their status, is it possible to pick a best XI without Souness, Hansen or Dalglish? It feels like it isn't.

Yeah, the only question for me at left back was Nicol vs Robertson. Does highlight (no disrespect to those two) that it's not historically been the strongest position.

Mascherano should be a choice in midfield.

Matip deserves consideration in defence

Suarez for sheer ability rather than what he won.

Seeing peak Gerrard, Dalglish, Barnes and Suarez playing together would be something else.

Based on my viewing from the mid-80's onwards.

I don't think there can be any argument about the keeper or CBs. I'm going to assume Klopp is coaching them using current tactics hence the fullbacks - defensively we've had better although I would not have a problem with Steve Staunton at LB.

Alonso would get in on ability compared to Whelan, but Whelan had a lot more success and was a very underrated footballer. Gerrard and Souness are autopicks - anyone not picking them is flatly wrong.

Suarez would easily get in on ability, but not on longevity or success. Same for Torres - for 2 years with us he was the best central striker in the world. Overall, the front 3 is the hardest to call and if I was forced to put in Salah and/or Mane I would not complain

So difficult to choose, and there are no right or wrong answers.
Everyone will have their own favourites.
I'm surprised no one has gone for Terry McDermott though. I thought he was brilliant! Ray Kennedy too.
I generally don't like including players until they retire, but I have made a few exceptions here.

From my lifetime, in a sort of 4-2-3-1:

Alisson

Alexander-Arnold
Robertson
Hyypia
Van Dijk

Fabinho
Alonso

Suarez
Gerrard
Salah

Torres

So harsh on Bobby, Mane, Coutinho, Thiago, Mascherano, Reina, Owen, Fowler etc, but we've just had so many great players! Most clubs don't have even one player in their history as good as any of this lot.

That doesn't make it right  :D

I don't think he should be, as good as he was. But then it's the best player, rather than most successful.

I wouldn't have anyone that won nothing in mine though.
