Ante-post / Long-term Football betting 2019/20 Season
« on: July 3, 2019, 04:34:14 pm »
A month away from the start of the new footy season, thought it would be worthwhile opening another one of these for anyone interested.

Ante-post / long term accas are seriously underrated and utilised in my opinion.
I'll be having a go at a few having come close to a big payout last season but for Leeds and Salford to let me down in the end.
But best advice is to wait until the midway point around December as by then it's easier to see the trends and who is likely to be in contention. There is still plenty of value at that point also
unless we're talking PSG being 15-20 clear and a 1/10 shot which you would't be touching anyway.

1st matchday dates:

Premier League: Aug 9th
Championship: Aug 2nd
League 1: Aug 3rd
League 2: Aug 3rd
National League: Aug 3rd
SPL: Aug 3rd

Selected Euro leagues:

Ligue 1: Aug 10th
Primeira Liga: Aug 10th
Bundesliga: Aug 16th
La Liga: Aug 18th
Serie A: Aug 24th

A few to note from the PL:

Salah is 7/1 (Hills) for the Golden Boot
Without the top 6 in the PL: (365) Leicester (5/1) Watford 14/1 catch the eye for me. Wolves are 7/2
To finish outside the top 4: Manchester United @ 4/6 (Skybet)
Team to score the least goals:  Brighton @ 8/1 Skybet
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Have had a few quid on Leicester to make top 4 this season. They were performing well towards end of season and are making some decent signings. Arsenal, Chelsea and United all look vulnerable so at 25/1 I thought was worth a shot.

Mitrovic at 10/1 for the championship golden boot is a cracking price, ripped it up down there last season and 1 of the very few Fulham players to come out with any credit from their campaign last season. All providing he stays of course

Yeah that’s a nice price if he stays. The Reds are 66/1 to go unbeaten with b365. Big ask but we only lost one last season.

Totally agree about placing bets mid season.

Nice one Kesey.  Yeah I mean it's good to get the early prices but your bet could be dead by November if a certain team struggles.

Especially with the likes of the Championship and L1/L2 it's better to let the tables form a pattern and see who is strong.

Bit ambitious I'd say mate. Rodgers is a good coach but you'd be talking about them making up a 16 point gap. They lost 16 games last season. If Maguire goes and they get megabucks then you'd expect them to strengthen that squad but top 4 would be a massive ask. Chelsea may drop away but City/Liverpool top 2 then Spurs followed by Arsenal/Mancs and Wolves/Everton/Leicester/Watford/West Ham maybe unless one of the promoted sides is impressive will battle it our for that 5th-8th area of the table I'd expect anyway.

Saying that, look at Leicester in the Top 6 market if you fancy them, might be the safer play.

City 90+ points 6/5
City & Liverpool to go unbeaten at home in the PL 16/1

Will get on some Sky Bet request-a-bets next week while chilling by the pool. Staked about £50 last July on them and won about £500. Think it'll be harder to call this season though.

Skybet have almost 60 outright markets on the PL alone, mad stuff!

Indeed mate, always likely to be a few which are good value. They're a bit of fun too.

Leicester without the Big Six at 5/1 on b365 looks good, could double it up with something from another league. Maybe worth seeing if this Diego Costa/Wolves link has any legs though.  ;D

Yeah, if u search through em all you can usually find some value, i won just over £500 on one last season, and will be ploughing through em all in a week or so to look for value at 10/1 or more.

Usually put on a new one every week come mid season.

I seen one in the bookies before. I think it was City , Leeds , Salford and Sunderland all to finish in the top two.

33/1

Gonna have a fiver on that before the season starts. Not saying its a cert but City are nailed on top two and I think Leeds and Sunderland are favs and perhaps Salford second favs.

Might be a big ask for Salford having just gone up mate. Are they supposed to be spending this summer?

That 6/5 on city over 90 looks tasty... not that I’ll commit so early.

I think Wolves are the team to watch this year. Will need to see there europa league start but I fancy them for 5th at least

Problem for them is Europa league

A good start in that indicates quality but then kills them getting through

It’s such an odd competition as you bust a gut to get in and then being in does you over

I *think* that backing e/w can limit cash out options when doing a long term acca with some firms. Something to consider.

First one done.

Fulham
Sunderland
Salford

EW ( First three places ) .

Pays £941 off a fiver EW stake. If they all just finish in the top three then it's a quarter of the winnings.

That's the first one done anyway.

Will throw my 2 pence worth in.

Carlisle to be relegated from League 2 - 16/1
At this time of writing they're yet to even have a striker in their first team. Squad has been depleted, lost by far and out their best player in Jamie Devitt. Could be some value in backing at that high price

Plymouth Argyle to win League 2 - 10/1
Ryan Lowe comes in to manage these from Bury and brings with him 4 players who perfomed well in gaining promotion from this league last season. The best player in the division will ply his trade in their green shirts in Danny Mayor (shocked to see him not playing higher up), Mcfadzean comes in also and will be solid all season at the back.

Will update with a few more closer to the start of the season.

One to keep an eye on, Silva POTY. His last season at City, he might get a Giggs type bounce if he is playing reasonably well as City will obviously be there or there abouts.

20/1 on b365.

I think 6/1 is quite measly for Mitrovic all the same. Roofe, Maupay or McBurnie even are better value picks imo.

Thing is I reckon Maupay and McBurnie might leave and I'm not sure Roofe has 20+ in him.

Maybe Sam Vokes at 25/1 might be a good e/w shout?

Thing is I reckon Maupay and McBurnie might leave and I'm not sure Roofe has 20+ in him.

Maybe Sam Vokes at 25/1 might be a good e/w shout?

The only thing with Mitrovic though is I think he has yet to score more than 15 league goals in a season since he came to England.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Paddy power special.

No I haven’t done research, but most games will have 5 or more, worth 5er

For anyone who buys the Racing Post for the Big Kick-Off, for info on which teams suck etc. They are publishing the pull-out in today's issue, (normally it's been on the Wednesday of the week leading up to the start of the season).

Thanks for the heads up mate.
