Happy New Year!!!
A new year, a new guide!Vu+ Ultimo. Same usually for Vu+ Duo
Link to old guide
http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=268203.msg9024546#msg9024546 1 – Buy box with image installed. For simplicity everything is based around the Vix Image as it is so well supported
2 – If you bought box but didn’t have the option for 1 read appendix a
SetupOk , the most important part is for tuner setup. I’m doing this based on what I have which is two feeds in so tuner A and tuner B use my sky dish and nothing else
Use the left/right arrow buttons to do this for Tuner A. Once done press OK and you can repeat for Tuner B
Configuration mode. Simple
Mode Single
Satellite 28.2E Eurobird 1..Astra 1N/2A/2B/2D
Send DiSEqC No.
Right now that’s done you may see that the screen is a little bit off. To resolve press Menu and select Setup. Then click system and scroll down to select OSD. From here select OSD position setup and play with width/height/left/right until your happy. Click the green OK button when done
Now we need channels1 - download this Dreamset 2.25
http://dreambox4u.com/downloads/tools/editors/dreamset/2 - unzip and and run dreamset.exe
3 - interest of time a few pics here to describe the rest of what I am posting :-)
http://www.sat-universe.com/showthread.php?t=1326254 - download latest set of channel lists. For Vu+ boxes this will be Enigma 2 settings. They do change as Sky changes frequencies/move channels/add new. This aspect of channels and updating is something you need to get to grips with. Luckily it is very easy!
bottom of this thread dated 15/12/12
http://www.satstation.co.uk/forum/f29-enigma-2-settings/catseye-enigma-2-settings-file-75-east-58-west-25/index6.html5 - unzip and remember where you did that!
6 - in dreamset click on set up. Name the configuration whatever you like, enter the IP address of your box and username root (if you've not changed) and select firmware as enigma2 ver 4
7 - hit test connection and it should all come back positive
8 - Save it
9 - Click open in Dreamset and go to where you unzipped the channel list. You should see a file called lamedb. Select this and open
10 - you'll now see loads of channels and settings (ch2 of pics attached) Click transfer and then write (ch3 of pics attached) it will start updating and then your box will reboot. Welcome to updated channels!
EPG – so now we have channels but where are the details of what is on tv? Configure cross EPG. Menu>Setup>System>EPG. I’m working on assumption you’ve got a hard drive installed.
Make it look like the following and click green for OK. Pay attention to the yes’s and no’s!
Click exit so you can go back and pick CrossEPG. Click update rytec providers. Once system confirms done go to XMLTV providers and scroll down and press OK against Rytec UK TV and you’ll see green tick. Press orange button for download and let it do its thing. Happy days – you’ll now see programme information next to the programme itself. For full setup go here
http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?14373-How-to-setup-Crossepg-in-all-ViX-Images or if you're lazy do this
1. Make sure you have a USB stick or HDD attached for EPG data storage.
2. Press Menu > Setup > System > EPG > Settings. Using left & right buttons either side of OK set the EPG location to /media/hdd or /media/usb. Other settings in this screen can remain as default for the purpose of this guide.
3. Press green OK.
4. Now select Crossepg and press OK.
5. Select configure and press OK.
6. Change scheduled download to once a day as for most users this is enough.
7. Set scheduled download time.
8. Press Red button for BACK.
9. Select Update rytec providers and press ok.
10. Select Update XEPGDB providers and press ok.
12. Select the EPG source that you want to use for EPG data. Do not select more than what you actually use and need as selecting too many will cause memory issues. For the purpose of this guide we will select Open TV Providers > highlight open TV (astra 28.2), press OK to enable this provider and GREEN tick will appear.
13. Press RED for BACK and keep pressing exit to exit all screen.
14. Press Blue button > Select Crossepg and press OK. Crossepg will now download EPG data. Be patient and let it finish then the EPG that you selected will be populated.
This should get most peeps started with Crossepg.
EPG data will always be saved provided your power down and reboot your receiver in the correct manner by pressing standby or holding down the standby button on your remote and selecting restart.
Cardsharing Providers are like opinions on players so I'll say this as a guide. Use test lines, stick with three month subs to reduce risk of bad provider/going offline and ask if stuck. Someone on here will know a good one. If you PM me I will happily tell you who I use
1 – download mgcam ( I used one I had older in my setup pics but the below is good)
http://www.world-of-satellite.com/enigma2/openvix/index.php?dir=ViX-Softcams/&file=enigma2-plugin-cams-mgcamd.1.35a_1.0-r3_mipsel.ipk2 – FTP to tmp folder. From the old guide the tools used there still work with the Vu+. I’ve just never bothered changing
That tools item is here ET9000 control centre -
http://www.satstation.co.uk/forum/f80-clarke-tech-xtrend-specific-tools/clarke-tech-et-9000-control-centre-1540/Once unzipped and installed you’ll get the picture. Enter IP of your box, hit connect, then use FTP
3 – Back to your box and then Menu>Setup>Vix>install local extension
4 – you should see this
5 – press green button to install and then once complete say yes to restart GUI
I’ve got my CS details – what do I do with them? When I first started I used cccam. MGCAMD is better so you’ll probably have some config that needs to newcamd.list. Worrafucksh that?
Back to FTP – now you’ve installed MGCAMD you’ll see this on your box /usr/keys/newcamd.list. Update this with the details your CS provider gave you which will probably look a bit like this
CWS_KEEPALIVE = 150
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 10000
CWS = something.sites.com 11111 ENX111 AA1XA1 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
Save the file. If you've been given something like
N: blah.blahblah.org 10000 rawk rawk 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
Simply drop the N: and add to the bit that look likes CWS =
A good provider will give you exactly what you need.
Now go to the box and activate this MGCAMD!
1 – Menu>Setup>SoftCam/CI>Softcam Manager
2 – Select mgcamd and press the blue button to enable startup
3 – press OK. It may start or stop depending on state. If it stops, press OK again to start
Appendix a – flash image on box. You’ll need your box, a USB flash drive (1GB is fine as is 500mb – the image is less that 100mb) and a PC. Internet connection goes without saying :-)
1 – download image from here
http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?20202-New-ViX-Team-VU-Ultimo-OE3-0-Release If you’ve got a Duo or Solo or something else then apply common sense and go to their main forum and find what you need!
2 – unzip it and recall where you’ve saved it to
3 – insert USB drive to PC and format it to FAT 32
4 – now open the folder from the unzipping done earlier. You should have a folder called Vuplus. Copy this and its contents across to the USB flash drive
Insert image here
5 – Ensure your new box is off and no other USB devices are attached. Once done connect USB flash drive to the USB port. If you pull the flap down on the front right side then you’ll see one there :-)
6 – Power on box and press "-" button on the front. After being powered on the box will automatically start the flashing process using the files on the USB memory stick. You can see the progress at the front display. Things like starting and flash0 avail0 means its happening!
7 – the box will restart a few times. DON’T remove the USB until you see a setup menu appear on your telly!
8 – box is flashed and you just need to go through the setup motions as prompted
