Has anyone ever heard about The Railway Hotel, 79 Binns Road Liverpool, Merseyside L79NF ?

My missus booked there for my birthday to go and see the Hull game.
They do tickets and travel.

I'm a bit worried not to see it in the list up here, please reply if you know anything that might ease my nerves a bit ...

I had a fantastic time !
The people in the Railway were great.
Very helpful and accommodating.
I had to wait a while before I got the match tickets, so I was sort of nervous then, but when they arrived I had a wonderful day !
I'm really looking forward to my next visit.
All the people we met in Liverpool were great, always willing to help with directions and eager to tell something about the city.

The restaurant does a decent steak frites, apparently.

I quite liked the Pumphouse in the Albert Dock.
Normally I would not have gone there as it looks a little bit posh, but both me and the missus had to piss really urgently, so we went in.
Nice place, nice people in there too.
Great historical building.

Go most fridays for food, pretty decent Mutton Curry they've had on lately and some decent bottled ales.

It's not bad at all. Rooms are a bit pretentious purpley black and I nearly broke my neck because the "mood" lighting was a bit gloomy. The restaurant is ok, definitely had much better, but I had a starter that was pastry and mushrooms with truffle oil and it was outstanding. They've got a decent but not very extensive local produce menu too.

I'm heading to Liverpool just for a day trip next month, never been before, mainly I am going to see Anfield and do the stadium/museum tour. But as long as I'm there I figured it would be nice to see a couple other sites as well. Is there anything close to the stadium (walking distance, or a just a short way away) away worth seeing? I've been googling, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here as well.

No, but the city centre isn't far away. It's only about 10/15 minutes from the ground by bus in the daytime.

Some friends of mine are going to Liverpool next weekend and were asking me for advice on where to go and all that as I go regularly. They've got a place on duke st, is that in rope walks area? Is there any good bars near there or should they just go the usual places in town?

It's pretty rare for us to play a pre-season game at home. There have been a couple in recent years but only ever one a season and it's usually later than that, into August. We often play away pre-season though in places that aren't far away and are easy to get to, like Crewe, Tranmere or Wrexham.

The first friendly is on 21st July, at Wrexham.

I was in Southport for a couple of days, visiting my Dad, went to the docks to have a look around and had a sausage and egg toastie in the White Star cafe, feckin lovely it was. Two armed coppers entered the cafe and my Dad´s eyes nearly popped out of his head,

he´s never seen one before, bless! On to town centre, resisted the urge to get the new shirt at Liverpool one, prefer to wait and see what happens with those two clowns. There was what looked like a warship getting wrecked, at the docks, just down from that massive Tate & Lyle sugar silo. On the way into town we passed the floral tributes to that lad who was shot, ffs, what´s going on? People shooting each other in Liverpool, bloody mental!
Btw, I flew in from Bremen airport, cheap as chips at about 70 Quid including luggage.

Stanley st, just round the corner from the bottom of Mathew st. Or if you go down Victoria st, stanley st is off it, about half way down. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Oh, and it's called Cafe Sports England just in case you didn't know, might make it easier to find.

I'm thinking about going to Liverpool at the start of November and found a pretty decent offer for the Holiday Inn Express Knowsley. It will be my first visit, so I have no clue whether I should be staying there or rather be looking for something more in the city centre. I have no plan as to which places I'd like to visit or what to do (except maybe going to the Swansea-game that weekend). I would just like to roam around the city and do and visit whatever I feel like... So, would the HIE Knowsley be a good place to stay?

Anyone stayed at the Jurys Inn hotel near the waterfront?

Last time I stayed at the base2stay and would highly reccomend it, great hotel and a fantastic price but is coming up as fully booked for the 6th April(West Ham game), in fact most of the city centre hotels are coming up as fully booked. Anything going on in the city that weekend?

Any info would be much appreciated, cheers.

I actually won a night there in a raffle.

The £1 I paid for the ticket means I overpaid.

Happened to stay there on a Saturday when we'd played at home. Full of Thomas Cook knobhead customers [95% Irish, 5% Cockneys] in full kit, with numerous LFC Shop plazzy bags, and who's mission statement in life seemed to involve pissing me off.

I lasted about 20 minutes in the bar, watching them all compare photos of Stevie G and Anfield. Beaut fucking central it was. In the end we walked into town and stayed there til I was well and truly bladdered.

Beyond hated it mate.

I was wondering if the Albert would be able to handle Americans. I'm making my first Anfield trip to watch my 100th consecutive watch (been a fan for life, but havent missed one in 2 years). I wanted to make sure I didnt piss off the locals by going into their sacred ground. Would me and the missus be ok at the albert?

The Albert seems to be a big draw, more for the out of towners, first timers and tourists, moreso than the locals.

Because it's right next to the ground, and it's always bursting to capacity, everyone seems to want to experience it.

Fair enough if thats your thing, and you do get some locals in there, but there usually outnumbered 20/1.

From a locals point of view, most if not all the pubs around the ground a hectic on a match day, The Albert or The Park, though, are just far too hectic to even get served at the bar at times, hense us locals usually go to the pubs five ot ten minutes walk from the ground.

As i say though, if you don't get over here very often, fair do's and have a go at the experience.

Also take in The Sandon.

Only a couple of minutes away, and where LFC were born, and where the team used to use the cellar as their changing rooms before trotting over the road to the ground, in the very early days.

Lots of other better pubs around the ground too, if you've got time to visit some of the others, and know where to find them.

As Richie said you'll be fine, but go after the game. To be honest, I very rarely drink round the ground because I think the boozers are crap and too packed, but obviously if you've never been you'll want to go. My advice though is to drink in town before the match, and then afterwards take your time and go to a few pubs round the ground. It'll be less busy and easier to get served.

I'll catch a plane in John Lennon Airport at 6pm in a month's time and, being from Manchester, I would like to spend the morning and early afternoon roaming around the city. The thing is, I'll have my bag with me. Does anybody know if the coach or railway station have some kind of locker in which I could leave my things for a couple hours?
