I just built a package on the SKy site
Sky Entertainment and Netflix (no idea if this is different from Signature)
Sky Sports
TNT
Full Fibre £100

Cost is £83 a month for 18 months with a tenner set up fee for the Fibre.

They can definitely go lower than £102.
From what I can tell Entertainment and Signature are essentially the same, they seem to have stopped referring to the latter.

Thanks mate, I'm gonna quote this figure to them and see what happens.

Sky were a joke when it came to my renewal cost. Had sky movies, sky sports, signature, multi room and ultra HD and they were charging me £70 as a new customer. Came to renewal and they tried to bump the price right up to £136 and said that was due to a new customer discount. Got a few mates who work at sky and they told me the way to go forward- Told them I was leaving and they got the price down to £86. I told them this still wasn’t enough and I was going to leave. I’ve got a firestick in the house and literally got everything on it that I had with sky so was more than happy to play the long game.

It’s probably been about 3 months since I left sky now and every 2-3 weeks, I’m getting letters from them to come back. Last month the same package was only going to cost me £46. On Thursday there got another “Black Friday” offer and it was for:-

£12 for signature
£5 multi screen
£4 movies
£11 sports
£4 UHD

£36 for this package. Currently paying £50 a month for broadband with Virgin and got on the phone to sky and asked if they’d do a deal on my broadband and got 500mb download for £30. Ended up taking the full package again for £66 including broadband.

Long story short- if you can play the long waiting game with them when you leave then do it because they get pretty desperate for you to come back especially if you don’t send the equipments back straightaway.

SkyQ is so shit. Feels like it takes an age to get to where you want to go. Have had it for a long time now but still miss the old Sky… biggest thing I miss it when you’re watching a recorded programme, then flick to live tv but to get to the recorded programme you were watching you have to go to home>recording>continue - the last system (forget what it was called… Sky+??) you could just press play and you’d go back to your recording.

Am I missing a shortcut?

Its shit, really cumbersome, the only redeeming features are extra storage for recorded programmes and the blue speech button

Yeah, it’s less intuitive and user friendly than the old version for me. But I had such an old box that it was a struggle to watch any box sets or on demand stuff so having that and Netflix all in one place does make things better for me. And I don’t record much, or get much say it what gets watched in my household so I can cope with the rest. :D

Same here Box was old and they said unless I change they will charge us to fix their box,  bastards

Its a good point you can go to Netflix and other services via Sky, hadn't thought of that.

Weve got 4 boxes so no issues with who controls the telly.

Quite annoying when others are watching footy upstairs as the upstairs boxes are  2 seconds ahead of my box

Yeah pull plug out for a few minutes, should give it a reboot and refresh your listings.

Yep that really fucks me off too.

It’s definitely designed that way. Although this time I’m sure I did get the offer of a new 18 month contract online.

same package double the price. Needless to say several phone calls were required

Finally cut the cord and cancelled Sky, we have a contract with them until September but too expensive.
Told them we are moving into family house who have Sky (they verified the address has an account) and allowed me to cancel tv and broadband with 31 days notice, no cancellation fees.

Was coming in £76 a month and we have managed to get Netflix and much faster fibre for £36, never watch actual Sky anyway so be a nice little saving.

Sorry I think I suggested that. Sounds like there could be an issue with the box.

Is the screen just blue or are there any messages on it?

I’d say as long as you’re able to log in on more than one device it should be possible.

50% of? When my contract expired they offered me same price for the next 18 months rather than the £50/60 increase they first suggested.

yeah I normally expect to pay around half of full price.

I think mine was about £56 or £58 when I agreed to it, went up to £66 with the price increases this year (which they handily calculate on the non-discounted price).

When I said I was off they were quoting me about £112, I'm not even that keen on paying £66 again  ;D

Cancelled my Sky package. When I agreed it, I was paying £100 a month for the full works Sky Q package (not including BT/TNT Sports), multiscreen in one room and 150MB broadband. Cost had ticked up to £112 a month with in-contract rises, and while I tried to negotiate the best I could get them to on the phone was still a £20 a month increase on what I'd been paying.

Very tempted to move over to EE TV. Haven't spoken to them on the phone, but just building a bundle on their site I can get 500MB broadband (£35 a month) plus their full works TV package which includes all the main Sky entertainment channels, Sky Movies, Sky Sports plus TNT Sports too. Netflix is included in there, just like it is on Sky, and can get an additional minibox for a second room at no extra cost (and indeed for a third room, but I've no need for that). You get six months of Apple TV too. While it's all streaming based, the main box can record live TV. Downside is you can only watch recordings on that one box, unlike with Sky where all the boxes are linked.

Anyone got experience of EE TV (or BT TV previously). My guess is the user experience will be inferior to Sky. I know Sky Q has a lot of critics but I like it, and everything being integrated into one place including Netflix, Prime, Disney+ etc is great. Presume EE TV will feel a bit more piecemeal, especially since a lot of it is delivered via Now TV. But on the plus side, with EE you can cancel individual elements of your package on a monthly basis, so for example can cancel the sports in the offseason. It's still an overall 24 month contract compared to Sky's 18 month one though.

Any thoughts? I might try and see if I can get EE down further on the phone and then phone Sky and see what they can do in response.

Cut the cord about a month ago and switched to Virgin.  Not looking back either.  No sports or movies (got a Firestick) but got pretty much everything else and the top Fibre broadband for £67.50 which is way under what Sky were after (about £90) and with shittier internet too.

I’d be surprised if Sky don’t contact you soon to entice you back with some better offers. I normally give my notice and then within a week there’s a decent offer.

I phoned them last night to say I was signing up for EE and they didn’t make any counter offer. Contract due to expire on Sunday and haven’t had any offer since 21 December when I phoned to put my notice in.

Have signed up for EE now and can’t complain with £99 for 500MB full fibre plus full works TV including a second box and Netflix plus six months of Apple TV. Pleased to have TNT Sports too for our Europa run in and what I presume will be multiple Saturday 12.30 kick offs  ;D I also have a Fire Stick so may end up removing the Sports package which would shave something like £40 off my bill - think the flexibility EE is offering is v good.

I've had enough of their broadband.

We've been with them for broadband and TV for years, and never really had issues. But late Nov we started getting massive drop-offs on the broadband. When I checked, we were still getting over 100mbps to the premises, but down to 0.1mbps coming from the router. It was stopping not just things like Firesticks working, but also the second SkyQ box. First time, I powered it off and restarted. Worked... for about a week. Did 'the fix' again, this time it worked for 5 days, then 3 days, then 2.

They did a test and agreed the issue was the router, so sent me another. Didn't tell me there'd be a £9.99 p&p charge, mind, which has pissed me off. They also offered me a new discounted deal, which knocked broadband & tv (with add-ons) to the same price we'd been paying

Within a week of using the new router, the same problem. Powered it off & restarted... fine... for a week, and so on.

I've all but decided to move to Vodafone. My mobile's with them and they've offered a discount. A little cheaper for 500mbps (on their Pro package) than even the so-called discounted Sky broadband, where speed would fluctuate between 30mbps and 150mbps.

But I want to ideally keep Sky TV. It's just so convenient. I asked what discounts they could offer me to renew and the knobhead at the other end starts trying to sell me Sky Stream. I explain I want to stick with Q (even though I think it's shit and, in terms of functionality, worse than Sky+!! But I fear how much shittier Sky could make new things) and he clams up for a few seconds then offers me a derisory £2/month off - telling me it's the very best they can offer.

I'm going to have another crack at them tomorrow. But they just don't seem arsed.

One thing I did notice when I first called them in December is I got through to some [presumably] Indian call centre and they are woeful. I put the phone down because they couldn't understand what I was trying to explain. Called back later in the day on a different number and got an English person who understood perfectly and was really helpful. I just wish I could find this alternative number!!

A Tory, a worker and an immigrant are sat round a table. There's a plate of 10 biscuits in the middle. The Tory takes 9 then turns to the worker and says "that immigrant is trying to steal your biscuit"
