Bad list that, some half decent pubs and one or two belters but generally shit

Not sure about that. The following are all good places for a pint in my opinion:

The Dispensary - Renshaw Street
The Belvedere - Sugnall Street, Liverpool
Ye Cracke - Rice Street, Liverpool
The Caledonia - Catharine Street
The Pilgrim - Pilgrim Street
The Fly In The Loaf - Hardman Street
The Ship & Mitre - Dale Street
Baltic Fleet - 33A Wapping
Peter Kavanagh’s - Egerton Street
Bier - Newington Temple
The Roscoe Head - Roscoe St
The Excelsior - Dale St
Ma Egerton's - Pudsey St
Thomas Rigby's - Dale St
Ye Hole In The Wall - Hackins Hey

And a good number of those i've not listed above i've not drank in so i can't say. Of those i have drank in i'd only say the following two aren't the best:

The Grapes -  Mathew Street
The Albert Hotel - Lark Lane

No idea why the Matthew Street Grapes is on the list.

I've drank in 21 of those 24 - and one of the ones I haven't is in Birkenhead and therefore has no business being on the list.

Unusually for me there is a home game, I'm in Liverpool but not at the game.

Where's a good spot for the game (thinking somewhere reasonably quiet possibly with a guest ale or two).

I.e. like the Vernon, but with better screen visibility

Might be an option. I'd be perfectly happy in the Vernon if I could control how many others came in and where they stood  ;D

Cross Keys is not far from Vernon.

Cross Keys is not far from Vernon.

Less about the location to be honest. Always found the cross keys a bit like a chain pub if I'm honest.

Forgive me, but does Rigbys or Ye Hole have a screen? Never been in when a game is on.

Thanks!

Rigby will have Sky games so Villa is ok. Gets busy though so viewing might be just like Vernon. Excelsior is also worth a shout

Yeah the Excelsior never seems to get as busy as other pubs round there, probably a good shout. Plenty of screens too.

Just a boss pub.

Yeah, I saw that new bar there too and was a bit worried Dawsons had shut down until someone told me that Dawsons has just moved to Williamson Street.

The Lion is a fine pub, always enjoyed it there. Go there quite regularly because there's a folk music thing there once a month. But for some reason never really saw it as a pub where you could watch the match.

We went to the Razz for the first time in years on Saturday night, bloody hell it's changed!  No stinking smelly carpet to stick to anymore and very very cheap ale.  Nice queue waiting to get in when we were leaving at 3:30am, think it must be open until 5?  I would have prefered to pop into Salt Dog Slims but we were a big group.

Given the above information, you wont be suprised to find that I really like the Grapes on Mathew Street; load of characters in there and FUN to be had with others other than in your own group.
