They should have sold Zaha.  Their squad is aging and on relatively large wages.  Need to start working on that before they turn into a Sunderland.

I can just imagine when the old twat goes, his mates in the media will be after the new guy. If they happened to go down it will never be the Owl's fault for building a squad of older players on big wages. The next manager is on a hiding to nothing.

The Roy Hodgson Depreciation thread?!?

Any team he manages, any footballer he coaches will inevitably depreciate in value.

A classic Hodgson performance yesterday, losing to the mighty Sheffield United.

Imagine playing for Palace and you have to come to work everyday and listen to this idiot and his grumpy assistant spouting their prehistoric tactical vision at you. No wonder Zaha wanted out.

Yeah, that jumped out at me too. A weird comment, trying to align himself with Ferguson.

It’s the same with all these backwards LMA cabal old timers - ala Allardyce, Pulis, who are exactly the same in their sycophantic attitudes towards Ferguson. The sign of a mediocre manager as Ferguson had them under the thumb.

Plus the fact that he attempts to put himself on Ferguson's level. As much as we hated the man, it's an insult to Ferguson's abilities to have Roy Bleeping Hodgson seen in the same category of manager. As if.

He's putting in his application for when Ole gets sacked. First rule of being Manchester United manager is that you mention Mr Ferguson as much as possible.

I think he deserves it to be honest. After a career where his methods translated all over Europe, it's about time he got the chance to steady the ship at a club like Manchester United.

Go on Ed, you know it makes sense.

I'm not surprised that Roy mentioned himself in the same sentence as Ferguson.

Whilst Ferguson won the Premier league multiple times, the FA cup and European cup on various occasions, he never conquered the Swedish league, or the Danish league, or was able to guide Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, WBA and Crystal Palace to mid-table safety.

And in Roy's eyes, that puts them on a par in the legacy of great managers.

I feel like any team he coaches will always be a midtable level no matter how good or bad it is.

Give him a shitty side and he will put them in midtable, overachieving yet playing anarchic football. Give Brazil in 1982 and he will drop them to midtable mediocrity. Allardyce has also this same quality.

True, good on Townsend (apart from 'one of the league's best wingers bit'). Why did Zaha go back on his right foot where Young was in a position to block the cross when he had the opportunity to cross it in with his left?

You'd think that a man of his age and vast experience, who must be within touching distance of retirement, would go all out to win silverware.. but of course, Uncle Roy is knocked out of the cup once again by lower league opposition.

Could it be that one of the 'most feted' managers in English football, a former LMA manager of the year and Swedish league title winner 40 odd years ago could end his career without a single domestic trophy in his own country? Surely not?

Zaha didn't start, so yes.
He came on as sub with half an hour to go though.  Sound like Colchester weren't at full strength either from their managers' comments about an 18 year old coming on and scoring the winning penalty.

Uncle Roy is happy finishing 16th in the league and going out of the cups as early as possible.  Imagine that as your manager - unfortunately it is all too fresh in our minds.
