Football is a funny old game isn't it

Got completely battered for 40 minutes but somehow we're going in ahead.

We desperately need to address why we're starting games so slowly though - sooner or later it's going to catch us out.

Pascal Gross should have a red card for me. Blatant denial of a goal scoring opportunity, double jeopardy doesn't save him because he doesn't make an attempt for the ball.

We’re not half frustrating, our lack of intensity at the start of games makes no sense.

Once we started playing direct and with some pace they couldn’t handle us.

Need to sort out these lazy first half starts.

Great to be ahead. Weren't great for the majority. As soon as we utilised our press we were really dangerous. But should be playing 2nd half with a man advantage.

To be honest, even at 1-0 I thought we were playing okay and had approached the game in the right way. We hadn't let Brighton impose their usual game on us, but obviously that all goes out the window with one fuck up.

Play it sensibly in the second half and we will get a lot of opportunities on the break.

Great turn around, no idea why Brighton were fighting that pen so much, they are incredibly lucky nobody was even booked, never mind sent off for that. Either foul could have been a red denying an open goal

Managed to turn that around somehow.

They've targeted Mac Allister which is understandable but we've played into their hands. When we move it quick we are so much better but for long periods we seem intent on playing as slow as possible. Brighton are great at making it difficult but we have to move it quicker.

Strange half, both looked really poor for 40 though obviously us much poorer and we are somehow winning at half time. Hopefully we've woken up now and finish it off

Genuinely thought VAR was gonna find a way to do us there though suppose they have with not sending their lad off. The terrified look on Jurgen and all our players faces when Diaz challenged the goalkeeper was depressing, we are expecting to get a red card for anything and everything.

The good news is you don't need to be good for 90 minutes to win.

Mac Allister wasn't great ont their goal, but thought Van Dijk wasn't good either. Lazy pass in to an obvious pressing trap. Another goal given away from our own build up

I thought it was fairly entertaining. Think neither team really had a grip on the game, just a lot of ebb and flow. Our play with the ball has been fantastic in their half, training pitch stuff, we just have to spend more time in it.

It was quite even until we game then a goal. They also had every lucky bounce of the ball go in their favour.

This team just need to learn how to play clever. It’s clear how Brighton want to play so why play into their hands so often.

Not sure about their goal. Should macallistar do better or is the pass even on?maybe it's a symptom of a new player still getting used to how we play.

Admittedly I didn't see it very well.
