- those who throw in the occasional complete dive over fresh air (Suarez?
Think this one is quite rare, I'm struggling to think of a good example. Suarez was more the type that would massively exagerate a small contact.

The most blatant dive of all time was Viera against Hamman. Think it was in the Neil Mellor game.

I went for Grealish and Gordon.

It's not that I don't think any others on the list dive but it feels like there whole game revolves around it. Whereas like Kane dives but fair play he can hit a ball, Fernandes dives but he can pass a ball. Maybe I should of gone Fernandes for the third because he is a rat like.

Honestly a lot of the older players I struggle to remember diving even though they are of my era so to speak. It's funny I just don't hold the same animosity to them as I would of back in the day.

Nah Mane, Salah and Suarez are some of the toughest and strongest attackers in the history of PL. They used to get wrestled a lot of time. They are all terrible and awkward at diving. Out of those 3 only Suarez was frequently diving. Mane and Salah dive, but very rarely.

Drogba. Good player but rep ruined by his tendency to fall over a blade of grass. He'dve been a better player if he'd stayed on his feet and didnt greet over a soft tackle. Wimpy twat.

Recency bias on some of these shouts. Seriously, Ronaldo and Drogba were some of the worst of all time, in any league. Drogba's antics in particular were laughable.

Kane obviously the worst of the last ten years.

Yeah Drogba was terrible. One of those who annoyed you more because he was so strong and could bully a defender. But if a defender stood up to him he’d just flip, and moan and cry and that wound me up so much.

Seeing that Chelsea team get their comeuppance against Barca in the semi final was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in football. Drogba in his flip flops going mental at the ref. :D

Drogba is the champ. Has to be. One of his dives v us beat both the Olympic Long Jump and High Jump records.

Kane gets silver medal. Grealish bronze.

Surprised not to see Francis Lee on the list who was one of the great pioneers. And honourable mensh to Roberto Pires who introduced the art of kicking a defender and going down in the box. Plus that high pitched scream of his when he fell. Only canines and Roy Keane could hear it apparently. Make of that what you will.

Most of the players have been mentioned but special mention to Vieira for one of the most disgusting dives ever at Anfield near the touchline, think it was on Hamann, that team were shameless. Similar to past Ferguson sides and Mourinho's Chelsea, Tottenham of the last 10 years the same too just without any trophies the others got.

Remember that one, Hamann hung a leg out and then pulled it away and Vieira collapsed to the floor.

EDIT: found it.

Francis Lee was the first true Englishman to legitimise the dark art of diving.

Prior to our Westhoughton born pioneer diving was the prerogative of swarthy Italian’s who often played for Helenio Herrara’s cheating Inter Milan.

The blond, stocky Lee legitimised diving with his boyish grin and wide eyed charm and allowed Fancy Dans like Rodney Marsh (when he wasn’t quaffing champers in a bubble bath with a bevy of dolly birds) to incorporate the open and honest English form of diving into their game.

I still think the English lads have a lot to learn when it comes to 'follow throughs'. They simply haven't reached the superlative level of Drogba, Suarez and Klinsmann when it comes to the crucial ten seconds after hitting the deck. Mention has already been made of Drogba's ability to roll ten yards off the pitch and then, after 'hitting' the advertising boards, rebound another ten yards on to it. But Suarez also had a lovely way of hitting the grass and then using his head to bounce back up in a sort of triple salchow (that's a skating term). I used to say he never dived. But of course he dived all the time. And Klinsmann used the greatest stage - a World Cup Final - to showcase a salmon in its death throes wriggling on the end of a blunt fish hook.

In fact I'd say the 1990s was the pinnacle of diving. I'm talking aesthetics not frequency. Grealish wins frequency.
